Chapter 1516: Storming The Desolate Hall
In Warm Wine City, the soothing sounds of silk and bamboo instruments nurtured the bonds of friendship among the brothers. The group continued to live a simple and peaceful life. Every day, Yi Feng would focus on his personal spatial realm, which was slowly expanding but remained devoid of life. The only exception was the old locust tree by the well.
Yi Feng had once considered bringing external life into his spatial realm to see what changes it might trigger. However, he hesitated. Introducing foreign elements into this space could disrupt its order, leading to rejection or even the collapse of the realm. If the space were to collapse, Yi Feng's life would likely be in grave danger. While there was also a chance that the intrusion could spark new vitality, he wasn't willing to gamble with his life. Instinct for survival kept his curiosity in check. After all, curiosity killed the cat.
A few days later, the man in black excitedly told his three brothers about a newly discovered secret realm. "Let's go and explore it! Our lives have been too dull with all this revelry. We need some excitement!" he said enthusiastically.
"Let's do it! Why not?" the toad chimed in, eager for adventure.
And so, the four brothers embarked on an impromptu journey.
During their absence, members of the Desolate Hall arrived in Warm Wine City. Taking advantage of the brothers' absence, they stormed the city, reducing the brothers' castle to rubble. The city was soon engulfed in flames, with screams and the clash of weapons filling the air. Wu Tian, a figure from the Desolate Hall, slaughtered many of the brothers' servants, sparing neither women nor children. They also abducted numerous twelve-year-old girls from the city.
When Yi Feng and his brothers returned, they were met with a city reeking of smoke and blood, littered with naked corpses. On a distant wall, written in blood, were the words: "This is the fate of those who defy the Desolate Hall."
The sight filled the four brothers with rage, their eyes burning with murderous intent. "Big brother, how do we settle this score? The Desolate Hall has dared to cross us, to massacre Warm Wine City!" the man in black growled, his fists clenched tightly.
Yi Feng's eyes widened, trembling with fury. "If others provoke us, we will retaliate," he said, each word dripping with resolve.
"Let's storm the Desolate Hall and plunge them into chaos! I'll send every last one of them to the cycle of reincarnation!" the toad roared, his eyes gleaming with ferocity.
Even the usually slow-moving snail was incensed. "Let's crush these scum!" he spat.
...
Night fell over the lifeless Warm Wine City, which had lost its former prosperity and bustle. It now resembled a ghost town. A flock of crows circled above before descending to feast on the unburied corpses, their shrill cries adding to the brothers' sorrow.
Yi Feng stood before a stone statue of Bai Piaopiao, speaking softly. "I have something to take care of. To move more freely, I won't bring you this time. I've found a place with breathtaking scenery. I think you'll love it. Wait for me there."
"Don't worry, I'll definitely return this time. I won't keep you waiting long..." With that, Yi Feng hoisted the statue onto his back and vanished.
He reappeared at a cliff overlooking a vast landscape. Below, lush forests swayed gently in the breeze, their rustling resembling ocean waves. Nightingales sang, and insects chirped. A great river flowed from west to east, its surface glistening under the moonlight like a silver galaxy. Above, a crescent moon hung in the starry sky, accompanied by countless stars, ensuring it never felt lonely.
Yi Feng gently caressed Bai Piaopiao's cold, lifeless cheek. "Wait for me here. I'll come back for you soon," he said, his voice firm and resolute. Then, he disappeared once more.
At a sacred site, the inhabitants were gathered in the main hall for a meeting. Suddenly, a loud crash echoed as two gatekeepers were hurled into the hall like cannonballs, smashing into the walls and turning into bloody mist. The assembly froze, rising to their feet and turning their wary gazes toward the entrance.
They saw four figures striding in, their presence menacing and their killing intent palpable. Without a word, Yi Feng and his brothers unleashed a barrage of sword beams, reducing the hall to rubble and sending bodies flying.
The toad leaped around, each kick generating shockwaves that sent enemies tumbling into the cycle of reincarnation, as if only this could quell his rage. The snail transformed into a massive form, crushing buildings and anyone unfortunate enough to be in his path into dust.
The four brothers swiftly subdued the remaining survivors of the sacred site, bringing the entire place under their control. "A sacred site reduced to a lackey of the Desolate Hall, committing heinous acts in their name!" the man in black bellowed at the cowering crowd.
Their vengeance had only just begun.
