Chapter 1354: Superhuman Power
Before Xu Rong could fully grasp the terrifying changes around her, the once-twisted hallway had already plunged into complete darkness. The confined space was eerily silent, with only the faint glow on her and Wu Tao's faces allowing them to see each other.
Xu Rong was petrified.
At this moment, her entire being was consumed by an unknown fear, rendering her incapable of even instinctive self-defense. Everything she was witnessing was beyond her comprehension!
In utter despair, she could only look at Wu Tao in terror.
"What on earth is going on?!"
Wu Tao, however, remained calm, offering a casual reassurance.
"Shh..."
"Don't speak. It'll be over soon."
Neither the surrounding darkness nor the suffocating pressure of the narrow space fazed him in the slightest. His composure stemmed from the fact that he felt no sense of danger at all.
What would be a terrifying scene for most people was nothing more than a trivial matter to him.
Slowly raising his eyes, Wu Tao's gaze even carried a hint of amusement.
"You're really something, huh."
"After waiting for so long, you finally decided to show yourself?"
His soft words carried an indescribable aura of dominance.
Xu Rong stared at him, dumbfounded. The young man before her seemed to have undergone a dramatic transformation, exuding a terrifying presence she couldn't comprehend. It was both alien and horrifying!
As Wu Tao's question echoed, the confined space remained silent. The only response came in the form of terrifying beams of light shooting toward them from all directions!
"Whoosh! Whoosh!"
The beams were as bright as meteors and as swift as thunderbolts. In the blink of an eye, they crisscrossed around the two, forming an impenetrable net. The consequences of touching them were unimaginable!
Instantly, Xu Rong's face turned pale. The instinct of death paralyzed her, leaving her no courage to move or any idea of how to escape this calamity. What she was witnessing had completely shattered her understanding of reality.
What kind of place was this?!
And what kind of terrifying power were those beams?!
One shock after another overwhelmed her. This elite talent from Pingjiang City now felt as insignificant as an ant, utterly helpless and at the mercy of forces beyond her control.
Wu Tao, however, remained unperturbed.
Facing the barrage of light beams, his eyes reflected nothing but casual boredom.
"Child's play."
With a gentle wave of his hand, the endless beams dissipated into thin air.
Turning his palm, he pushed lightly, and the space around them was bathed in light once more. From the depths of the retreating darkness came a pained groan.
"Ugh..."
As the darkness faded, the mastermind behind it all attempted to flee!
Wu Tao's eyes gleamed with ferocity, and he immediately prepared to give chase.
But then, Xu Rong, her face pale, finally succumbed to the overwhelming pressure. Her body went limp, collapsing onto Wu Tao's shoulder. In that split second of distraction, the shadowy figure vanished without a trace.
Looking at his captain, now as pale as a sheet and limp as a rag, Wu Tao sighed in resignation.
"Ah, you're just too weak..."
He called out to her softly a few times, but there was no response.
With no other choice, he exerted a tiny bit of his power, tapping his toes lightly. In an instant, he pulled Xu Rong through space, and the two of them emerged on an island in the middle of an endless ocean.
The weather was pleasant, the air fresh.
Xu Rong slowly opened her eyes.
Sitting up weakly, she was still in a daze. When she saw the waves crashing and the coconut trees swaying before her, she was utterly stunned. Before she could even process the earlier shock, her mind was hit with an even more terrifying realization.
"This..."
"This."
"This!"
She struggled to speak, but no words came out.
After what felt like an eternity, the beautiful captain finally seemed to accept what she was seeing. She glanced furtively at Wu Tao, who was sitting lazily beside her, his expression calm. Despite the countless questions swirling in her mind, she remained silent.
The once slovenly and lazy young man now appeared incredibly mysterious and powerful, like a figure from ancient myths, utterly beyond her reach.
With a soft smile, Wu Tao spoke, his words preempting all her doubts.
"Now, do you still think the questions you asked earlier are important?"
This time, Xu Rong didn't respond.
As she looked at his face, illuminated by the sunlight, she felt as though she was gazing upon the visage of a god. An indescribable sense of awe and reverence filled her heart.
All her questions melted away, leaving only a dumbfounded nod.
The once capable and outstanding captain was now reduced to a bewildered girl, completely overwhelmed by what she had witnessed.
Seeing her stunned expression, Wu Tao wasn't the least bit surprised, nor did he offer any further explanation.
After all, he had long transcended the realm of ordinary beings. His existence was beyond the comprehension of mere mortals.
Out of kindness, he simply said, "Wait here for a bit. I'll take you back after I finish my business."
Xu Rong, still in shock, could only nod obediently.
With no further distractions, Wu Tao turned his attention to the cloudless sky. He stood up slowly and called out, his voice calm but carrying an undeniable authority.
"Are you going to come out on your own, or do I have to drag you out?"
His voice wasn't loud, but it carried an inexplicable weight, spreading deep into the clouds. It was as if his words were whispered directly into the ears of anyone listening, no matter where they were.
Yet, after several minutes, the quiet island remained silent, with no response.
Finally, Wu Tao lost his patience. He stomped his foot on the sand.
At first, nothing happened. The sand showed no signs of disturbance, and the island remained as peaceful as before. It seemed like a feeble, almost childish gesture.
But in the next moment, the waves by the shore began to surge backward, their force multiplying several times over. In the blink of an eye, they rose to a height of several meters!
All around the island, the same phenomenon occurred.
The towering waves surged back toward the ocean, as if an indescribable force was radiating outward from the island, layer by layer.
Wave after wave rose higher and higher, the vibrations showing no signs of stopping.
Within a few breaths, the surging waves had reached a height of hundreds of meters, spreading across the endless sea. Even from the distant horizon, the spectacle was clearly visible.
Seabirds struggled to fly over the monstrous waves, as the wind howled and the sky darkened.
"Boom!!!"
A deafening roar, louder than any tsunami, echoed across the heavens and the earth. The colossal waves seemed capable of swallowing everything in their path.
Witnessing this, Xu Rong sat frozen, her mind completely shattered.
She couldn't fathom the kind of power this was—a force capable of altering the very fabric of the world. Such a being stood before her, and everything she had seen today defied all human understanding.
This power was not something any human could possess.
What kind of being was this man before her?
As Xu Rong was engulfed by shock, the waves continued to surge and spread, their momentum unrelenting, reaching far and wide across the globe.
The entire world was plunged into an unprecedented state of upheaval!
