Chapter 1244: An Existence That Cannot Be Provoked
For several days, the sea remained calm and tranquil.
However, deep beneath the surface, chaos had erupted!
Countless sea creatures hid in the depths, their voices trembling with fear as they argued and panicked. The commotion finally roused an ancient leviathan that had been slumbering for eons. Its eyes, as vast as the sun and moon, slowly opened, illuminating the darkness of the ocean floor.
"What dares disturb my rest?!"
The furious roar echoed through the depths, stirring powerful currents. All the sea creatures were instantly subdued, prostrating themselves on the ocean floor in reverence.
"We pay our respects to the Sea Lord!"
As the creatures bowed in unison, the massive coral reefs began to rise, trembling like islands. The slightest movement of the leviathan's colossal body caused the ocean floor to quake, sending boulders raining down. Yet, compared to its immense size, the falling rocks were insignificant.
Only when the leviathan's terrifying eyes fully opened did the ocean finally calm.
The boundless body of the giant turtle was covered in all manner of spiritual herbs and rare stones. Even entire communities of sea creatures had made their homes on its back, as if it had become one with the ocean itself.
Its awakening was nothing short of a cataclysm in the eyes of ordinary sea life.
Countless sea creatures bowed in reverence. Even those with bodies spanning thousands of feet seemed like mere specks before the giant turtle, not daring to make the slightest move.
Finally, the leviathan spoke, its voice resonating like thunder.
"After tens of thousands of years of cultivation, you still act so disgracefully? Disturbing my slumber is a crime punishable by death!"
The sea creatures trembled in fear, quickly pleading for mercy.
"Sea Lord, please calm your anger!"
"Recently, a human has been crossing the seas, slaughtering countless members of our kind. We are powerless to stop him, and in our panic, we disturbed your rest. We beg for your forgiveness!"
"Sea Lord, we beseech you to avenge the millions of our kin who have perished!"
The sea creatures pleaded desperately, their eyes filled with terror.
The giant turtle narrowed its massive eyes as it surveyed the scene.
"Is this true?"
"Take me to see for myself!"
With that, ripples spread around the leviathan's body, and several sea creatures followed closely behind.
In the blink of an eye, the giant turtle transformed into a vigorous old man, standing silently on the surface of the sea, gazing into the distance. Behind him, several middle-aged men, also in human form, pointed with reverence.
"Sea Lord, that is the man who has been slaughtering our kind!"
Following their direction, the old man's gaze fell upon a figure on the distant horizon, wielding a sword with deadly precision.
"Snap!"
With a clean, swift motion, another giant octopus sank into the depths.
Yi Feng shook his head in disappointment.
"This isn't cutting it!"
"Looks like the last one was bigger, seemed more intimidating, but one slash and it's still split in two. Besides being an experience boost, it's pretty useless."
He casually blew bubbles, seemingly accustomed to such scenes.
Yi Feng looked up and noticed a massive shadow moving on the surface of the sea in the distance.
Immediately, he slapped his thigh, grabbed his sword, and mounted his trusty snail, Manman.
"Damn it!"
"Even a mosquito's leg is still meat. Screw it! I refuse to believe such a vast sea doesn't have any big catches left!"
"Charge!"
With his sword pointed forward, Manman shot off like a streak of light!
The snail-riding Yi Feng charged forward, cutting through the sea creatures like a hot knife through butter. His experience bar skyrocketed, and if the sea creatures were edible, he could have stocked up enough food for several lifetimes!
Watching the entire scene unfold, the Sea Lord, now in the form of an old man, trembled with each passing moment. His expression grew increasingly grim, especially as he observed the sharp sword and the terrifying speed of the snail. His face turned ashen.
Even after the figure disappeared from view, the weight of the situation remained etched on his face.
"This..."
"Our kind has ruled these seas for countless ages, yet we've never encountered such a formidable foe. Nor have we ever incurred such deadly enmity. How could we be slaughtered like this?"
"What is this man's purpose?"
"Is he merely passing through, or does he truly harbor ill will toward our kind?"
As the old man muttered in disbelief, the sea creatures behind him exchanged fearful glances.
The Sea Lord, who had lived through countless eons and possessed unimaginable power and wisdom, was actually wary of this human. How could this be possible?
After a long silence, one of the middle-aged men stepped forward and bowed.
"Sea Lord..."
"What should we do? We beg for your guidance..."
The old man, transformed from the giant turtle, took a deep breath and clenched his teeth as he stared out at the endless sea.
"Migrate!"
???
The others behind him widened their eyes in shock, unable to believe what they had just heard.
The old man didn't turn around, but the fear in his eyes became more apparent.
"Not just you, even I dare not oppose this man. He is an existence our kind cannot provoke. Our only option is to migrate!"
"Though these seas are vast, as long as he remains here, our kind will have no place to call home. Regardless of the reason, we will continue to be slaughtered!"
"Pass down my orders immediately. The entire clan will migrate south, toward the Eastern Sea. Until I give the command, no one is to return to these waters!"
The sea creatures were stunned, some even opening their mouths to protest.
But the old man's face turned even darker, and he barked out a sharp command.
"Pass down the orders at once!"
"This is a matter of our clan's survival. Not a moment's hesitation is allowed!"
The sea creatures, now in human form, trembled at his words and quickly dove into the depths. Panic spread like wildfire as countless massive shadows began fleeing southward.
...
Far to the north of the seas, billions of miles away, lay a vast new continent. The spiritual energy here was so dense it was almost visible, and the land stretched endlessly like a paradise.
This was the legendary Land of Fallen Gods.
A spirit bird flew over the waves crashing against the shore, past hundreds of miles of mangrove forests, and over endless stretches of dense forests and grasslands. Finally, it came to rest on the edge of a towering cliff that pierced the heavens.
The cliff rose straight into the sky, its peak shrouded in clouds, making it impossible to see its full majesty. Even so, the cliff was breathtakingly magnificent. Compared to it, the most famous mountains and immortal abodes of the outside world were mere hills. It stood like a towering pagoda overlooking the vast land below, or a divine palace reigning supreme over all living beings.
On the thousand-foot-wide cliff stood a magnificent city. A few figures stood atop a high tower within the city, gazing down at the land below with an air of innate superiority.
They sipped wine and chatted leisurely, completely at ease.
Until a man approached, bowing respectfully.
"My lord, a ship is approaching from the sea. It seems to be those outsiders again. How should we handle this?"
At his words, everyone turned their attention to the speaker.
The leader stood at the forefront, dressed in opulent robes. One hand rested on a jade-carved railing, while the other elegantly held a wine cup. A smug smile played on his lips.
"Oh?"
"These outsiders never learn. Every ten years, some ship or another crosses the seas to come here. It's been going on for centuries."
"Do they really think their lowly kind of cultivators are worthy of setting foot in this place?"
The others chuckled, their eyes filled with anticipation.
The leader turned back, a hint of amusement in his expression.
"Since they refuse to learn, we'll handle it as usual."
"Take a team and head to the sea. Poison the waters and provoke the ancient sea creatures. Let them do the dirty work of wiping out these fools."
"Remember, this must be done cleanly. Leave no trace behind!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the flattery began.
"My lord, you are truly wise!"
"This plan to use the sea creatures as our weapon is brilliant!"
"Those ignorant fools don't even deserve to die by our hands. Letting them perish in the sea saves us the trouble!"
"Indeed! Once they're gone, even if their ancestors in the divine lands hear of this, they'll find no evidence!"
"Such a flawless plan could only come from you, my lord!"
Though this wasn't the first time they had orchestrated such a scheme, they seemed to relish it every time. Their flattery grew more practiced, as if slaughtering outsiders gave them a perverse sense of superiority.
Even the seemingly noble leader couldn't hide his satisfaction.
"Make sure this is done perfectly. When you return, I'll reward you with immortal wine!"
The man bowed excitedly and quickly led his team away!
