Chapter 1028: A Glimmer Of Insight

0 views 12.03.2025

The flying vessel continued to race forward, like a streak of light piercing through the dark mist.

Yi Feng, initially filled with anticipation, was influenced by the imposing presence of the three companions beside him, thinking they might encounter some real danger. However, all they encountered were some minor nuisances.

Gradually, Yi Feng's patience began to wear thin as he waited.

Along the way, he ate and drank as usual, and before he knew it, three days had passed.

The flying vessel never stopped, and it was unclear how far they had ventured into the dark mist. The world around them was enveloped in a thick, impenetrable blackness, to the point where day and night were indistinguishable.

Just as Yi Feng finished eating a boiled egg, he heard the woman speak in a serious tone.

"It seems the source is just ahead. Once we go deeper, we should be able to uncover the truth."

"Understood."

The two men nodded in response, their expressions turning solemn.

Yi Feng also looked up, following their gaze into the distance.

Ahead, there seemed to be a hazy barrier, dark and cold, with the faint outlines of strange demonic creatures interwoven within. Some were towering in size, others had twisted faces, and some didn't even have eyes.

They appeared slightly different from the usual demons, seemingly more powerful than the ones he had encountered before.

Yi Feng studied them for a moment but didn't sense any overwhelming aura. His initial excitement faded, replaced by a sense of boredom.

Traveling this far just to fight some monsters felt rather pointless.

Casually glancing at the path the flying vessel had taken, he saw ordinary demons roaring on the ground, their claws and teeth bared, creating quite a spectacle.

But to Yi Feng, they were no more interesting than colorful goblins. They couldn't spark his interest at all. If anything, they were less rewarding than the void beasts he had fought before.

As he was growing bored, the three companions beside him were becoming increasingly serious.

The leading woman turned to the two men and gave them instructions, her tone slightly grave.

"Those demons ahead are not ordinary. If we don't eliminate them, they could cause us a lot of trouble."

"So let's clear them out before we continue on our way."

"Once we go deeper, you must not be careless. Strike to kill, and we'll support each other, advancing in a triangular formation."

As she spoke, she glanced at Yi Feng.

"When we venture into the dark mist, you'll guard the sacred vessel. The demons at the periphery are at most at the Dao-Realization level, and you're at the Half-Saint level."

"Handling this small task shouldn't be a problem for you, right?"

Yi Feng nodded expressionlessly.

"Sure."

Although dealing with a bunch of ordinary demons wasn't exciting, he had agreed to accompany these three on their journey, so he might as well lend a hand.

Seeing Yi Feng's nod, the three of them turned their attention away.

With a wave of the woman's sleeve, the flying vessel hovered in the air, stopping at the edge of the dense mist.

The three of them transformed into streaks of light, diving into the endless dark mist. Like white rainbows illuminating the night, the three beams of light were incredibly powerful, dispersing the mist wherever they passed, and countless demons turned to dust.

In an instant, roars echoed through the mist, and radiant lights burst forth!

From a distance, it looked like fireworks lighting up the night sky, a dazzling display that lifted one's spirits.

It had to be said, those three were quite impressive.

Watching this beautiful scene from afar, Yi Feng's mood improved. Hearing the panicked roars from the demons below, he realized it was time to get to work.

Yi Feng pulled out a large sword and landed on the ground, swinging it relentlessly.

With each swing of the sword, a familiar notification sound echoed in his mind.

His experience points were skyrocketing, easier than drinking water.

Although the task was boring, it was somewhat rewarding. Yi Feng felt like he was back in the old days, reliving the feeling of leveling up by slaying monsters.

After a flurry of slashes, a circle of demon corpses surrounded him.

Yi Feng was becoming numb, turning into a monster-slaying machine. With a casual swing, he harvested another wave of experience.

He had no idea how long he had been at it, but he was completely emotionless now.

Mechanically swinging his sword, his thoughts drifted far away...

Since he had set out on his journey to seek death, he had gained a lot of experience.

At first, he thought he was only at the Dao-Realization level, but when he tested poisons, he discovered he was actually at the Half-Saint level. Later, after meeting Bai Piaopiao, he realized he was a Saint.

Once he reached the Saint level, he thought he was just an ordinary Saint. But recently, he had come to realize that all the other Saints were ridiculously weak.

After all this back and forth, he had finally discovered just how strong he truly was.

At this rate, the hope of encountering someone powerful enough to kill him was growing increasingly slim.

The most frustrating part was that the system had never told him how strong he actually was.

It had made him run around like a fool.

Yi Feng felt like he had been scammed, with ten thousand alpacas stampeding through his mind!

"Damn system!"

"Why are you so deceitful?"

In between curses, Yi Feng casually slashed a Mondo beast. The more he thought about it, the angrier he got, and his sword strikes became fiercer, sparks flying as more demons fell.

But the damn system remained silent, utterly shameless.

Yi Feng was on the verge of tears, his frustration only vented on the weak demons. In no time, the corpses piled up like a harvest of wheat.

But before he could fully vent his anger, the number of demons rushing toward him began to dwindle.

Even more absurd, some demons that had been charging at him with bared claws suddenly turned around and fled faster than before.

Each of them wore a terrified expression, as if he were the real monster.

Come on, shouldn't demons be strong and ferocious?

Yi Feng grew angrier the more he looked at them, and he shouted while brandishing his sword.

"Hey! Stop! Stop!"

But his shout only made the demons run faster, as if they were riding on wind and fire, disappearing in the blink of an eye.

"Whoosh..."

A gentle breeze brushed his face, and only lonely dust flew past his eyes.

Yi Feng stood there in a daze, his eyes filled with frustration. He could only chase after them with his sword, venting his pent-up anger.

Along the way, it was like a tiger among sheep. The more he slashed, the more numb he became.

It seemed like he was slaying monsters, but in reality, he was just killing time. He didn't even pay attention to what he was cutting—one swing of the sword, and it was over.

His movements became more and more熟练, like cooking or picking vegetables.

"Swish!"

Another swing of the sword, and a massive demon fell with a dull thud.
