Chapter 865: Bad Luck
"This is so, so damn terrifying!"
As he stepped into the Forest of Terror, a chilling breeze swept over him. The deeper he went, the worse his visibility became, until eventually, he couldn't see his own hand in front of his face.
The eerie and unknown atmosphere genuinely frightened Yi Feng.
Especially the occasional rustling sounds in the darkness, which kept his nerves on edge.
But it also excited him.
Sure, the environment was terrible, but death was a certainty here!
And so, Yi Feng wandered aimlessly.
He had no idea how long he had been walking, only that he was utterly exhausted. Finally, he plopped down on the ground.
"I wonder what kind of dangers lurk in this forest," Yi Feng muttered to himself.
Too tired to care, he leaned against a tree and fell into a deep sleep.
In his mind, the best outcome would be to die peacefully in his sleep.
However.
As Yi Feng slept, two shadowy figures emerged from the darkness, their eyes fixed intently on him.
"Why the hell is this guy here? Did we offend him or something?" one of the shadows hissed with hatred.
"How should I know? I'm just as confused. We have no beef with this guy, so why does he keep targeting us?" the other shadow grumbled.
"Damn it! We finally managed to become squad leaders, commanding over a million minor demons, and this guy keeps cutting them down like weeds. If it weren't for our high intelligence and good hiding skills, we'd have been wiped out too. Now, after finally being transferred to this godforsaken place, we run into him again. What terrible luck!"
"Hey, stop rambling. You're the boss here. At least come up with a plan or do something to deal with him," the first shadow said.
"Who says I haven't done anything?"
"What have you done?"
"I've been praying..."
"Does that even work?"
"Probably... I don't know."
"Then what's the point of praying?"
"Well, it's better than doing nothing."
"Fair enough..."
A long time passed.
Yi Feng's snoring grew louder, but the two shadows didn't dare move.
"I've got an idea," the leading shadow suddenly said.
"What?"
"Let's run!"
"That's actually a great idea..."
The two exchanged glances, then transformed into two streaks of light, shooting into the sky at an astonishing speed. As they fled, the darkness of the Forest of Terror was sucked away with them.
In an instant, the entire forest was bathed in light.
The lifeless silence was replaced by vibrant vitality.
Clear streams bubbled, and the banks were lush with flowers and plants. Butterflies and bees flitted about playfully.
Nearby, a little rabbit and a squirrel hopped around, occasionally jumping close to Yi Feng, seemingly curious about this new face.
Finally.
The mischievous squirrel picked up a nut and tossed it at Yi Feng's head.
Startled awake, Yi Feng groggily opened his eyes.
The squirrel, seeing him wake, quickly scampered away.
Once fully awake, Yi Feng ignored the squirrel and stood up, looking around in confusion.
His face visibly darkened.
"Damn it, that woman lied to me! With the atmosphere earlier, I thought this place was supposed to be terrifying and dangerous. Turns out it was just nighttime. The real environment isn't scary at all!"
"No wonder nothing happened to me after walking for so long..."
"This is the Forest of Terror? More like a joke."
Grumbling, Yi Feng followed his instincts and headed back the way he came.
Along the way, he held onto a faint hope.
Maybe he'd encounter some real danger.
But the most dangerous thing that happened was a monkey suddenly jumping out of a tree, nearly catching him off guard.
Outside the Forest of Terror.
Piaomiao Hong was still tied to the tree. She had tried countless times to escape but never imagined that, despite her cultivation level, she couldn't break free from Yi Feng's simple bindings.
In her heart, she couldn't figure out what this mysterious man was up to.
Why had he left her alone outside while he went into the Forest of Terror to die?
If that was the case, why had he captured her in the first place?
Was it just to have a woman witness his heroic death?
But she knew that she might never get an answer.
According to the intelligence she had, the longer one stayed in the Forest of Terror, the more dangerous it became. If someone didn't come out within fifteen minutes, they were almost certainly doomed.
Yi Feng had been inside for a full day and night. With such a long absence, he must have perished.
Even if Yi Feng was incredibly strong, it wouldn't matter.
Don't ask how she knew this—it was the result of countless trials with many powerful experts.
Of course.
No one knew exactly what was inside, only that it was extremely dangerous.
Aside from one person who had emerged after fifteen minutes, only to have their mind shattered and turn into a mad demon, everyone else who entered had perished without exception.
As she lost herself in thought, she suddenly realized that the ropes binding her had been undone.
"What are you spacing out for? Let's go!" Yi Feng said irritably.
Startled, Piaomiao Hong's eyes widened as if she had seen a ghost.
"Why did you come back?"
Since being captured by Yi Feng, this was the first time she had shown any emotion toward him.
But all she got in return was a dismissive glance.
"I slept for a whole night. Did you expect me to stay and sleep another?"
