Chapter 849: Digging With All Their Might
Sun Li and the others stood frozen in place for a long, long time before finally coming to their senses.
Just thinking about how the black box had been crushed into pieces with a single stomp made their hearts ache with pain.
In short, their mission had been a complete and utter failure. Not only had they lost several people, but they had also gone through all that trouble for nothing.
To make matters worse, they had been humiliated and couldn’t even utter a word in defense.
"Sigh!"
The group sighed in despair, preparing to pack up and head back home.
However, as soon as they stepped into the Black Domain, they suddenly remembered something and turned their heads sharply to look at the area that remained unaffected by the Black Domain.
"The black box treasure has already been destroyed, so why is this area still unaffected by the Black Domain?" someone asked.
"Yeah, why is that?"
"Could it be that there’s another treasure hidden underground?"
"That must be it. Otherwise, how else can we explain this?"
In an instant, the expressions of the once crestfallen group lit up with hope again.
For them, it was as if a ray of light had pierced through the darkness, revealing a new path.
"Hahaha!"
Sun Li burst into laughter.
"Who would’ve thought? Heaven closed one door for us but opened another!"
Sun Li shouted, waving his hand. "Since this area is still unaffected by the Black Domain, that means the black box wasn’t the thing repelling the black mist. There must be something else here, and I suspect that this true treasure is even more valuable than the black box!"
"So let’s not waste any time. We’ll start digging again now."
"And as I said before, to avoid damaging the treasure’s spiritual energy, we’ll dig carefully!"
"But one thing is certain: this true treasure must be buried more than a hundred zhang deep!"
"Yes!"
The others nodded eagerly and immediately got to work.
After all, the feeling of seeing clear skies after a downpour was particularly refreshing.
And if they could really dig up a super treasure, they would all be credited with a great merit when they returned to the Sansheng Sect.
---
On Shadow Island, Lou Benwei was, as usual, nailed to a tree.
At the base of the tree, the dog Milk and the others looked on, but none of them dared to make a move.
"Sigh!"
"Our big bro’s got it rough!"
"No kidding, he’s really suffering."
The dogs howled in despair, but suddenly noticed something and quickly scattered.
Shortly after, Yi Feng, dressed in a white robe, walked over with his hands behind his back, leisurely making his way to the tree’s base.
Lou Benwei, whose backside was pinned to the tree, struggled to twist his head around and looked at Yi Feng pitifully.
"Abba abba!"
"Don’t ‘abba abba’ me," Yi Feng scolded irritably, then pulled out a piece of immortal crystal and tossed it in his hand. "I’ve retrieved the immortal crystal. Since you didn’t take much and your attitude wasn’t too bad, and you didn’t try to run away, I’ll let you off the hook this time."
"Mhm mhm mhm…"
Lou Benwei nodded pitifully, like a chick pecking at rice.
"But as I said before, figure out a way to get yourself down. If you can’t, then just stay hanging there."
Yi Feng waved his hand and strolled off down the street, munching on melon seeds, partly to see if there was any gossip, and partly because he was still pondering how exactly he should go about dying.
After Yi Feng left, the dogs quickly scurried back and gathered around the tree.
"Bro, the master took the money back?" the dog Milk asked anxiously. "Then didn’t you just go through all that for nothing?"
"Shh!"
Lou Benwei raised a finger, looked around, and then whispered, "I prepared a backup plan. I hid another stash of immortal crystals deeper underground. The master probably doesn’t know about it."
Hearing this, the eyes of the dogs and the others lit up.
"Don’t rush. Let me get down first."
Lou Benwei kicked his leg against the tree, pulling the sword out of the trunk, and then jumped down.
"Bro, there’s still a sword stuck in your butt," the dog pointed out.
Lou Benwei glanced back and said nonchalantly, "The master stabbed it in. It’s not coming out anytime soon. Forget about it for now. Let’s go get the immortal crystals first."
"Alright, should we teleport out?" the centipede asked.
"No, no. If we teleport out, the master will definitely notice. Listen to me, I’ve got a plan."
Lou Benwei grinned, put his hands on his hips, and with a wave of his hand, he stored the dog, Milk, and the others away. Then he burrowed into the ground.
In the void space, the dog and the others watched as Lou Benwei sped through the earth.
"Bro, you’re so smart. The master definitely won’t notice this way," the dog praised.
"But bro, Shadow Island has a barrier. Can you really dig your way out?" the spirit king asked.
"You idiot, don’t you see who you’re talking to? A barrier like this can’t stop our bro!" the night wind centipede scolded.
And so, Lou Benwei continued to tunnel through the ground until he reached a spot two hundred zhang below the teleportation array outside the island.
"Hehe, found it! The immortal crystals are still here. As expected, the master didn’t notice."
Lou Benwei lay in the dirt, wiggling his butt excitedly.
"Congratulations, bro!"
The dog and the others congratulated him.
However, just a few zhang behind Lou Benwei, Sun Li and the others were still digging away with all their might.
