Chapter 845: Looking Like A Fool
Pah.
A bunch of old, emotionless geezers.
I misjudged them.
He had been feeling so awful, yet in the end, it was all just him being sentimental.
Yi Feng was filled with resentment. After so many years of camaraderie, this was it?
"Hey, I said I’m about to die, and you’re not even a little bit worried?" Yi Feng asked with a dark expression, unable to hold back.
"Should we be sad?" The old man paused his hand while moving a chess piece, exchanged glances with the others, and then looked at Yi Feng, asking.
"Shouldn’t you?" Yi Feng asked sternly.
Everyone was stunned for a moment, but after recovering, they quickly got into character.
"Woo, may Mr. Yi have a smooth journey to the Yellow Springs."
"May Mr. Yi rest in peace."
"Indeed, we are all very saddened by Mr. Yi’s passing."
The old men pretended to wipe their eyes with the corners of their sleeves.
"Can you make it any faker?"
Yi Feng’s face darkened.
Fine.
He had misjudged them.
Coming here to say goodbye was a waste of time. Furious, he turned and walked away with his hands clasped behind his back.
"Mr. Yi, take care."
Everyone nodded as they watched Yi Feng leave, then turned their attention back to the chessboard, continuing to play and chat casually.
"What do you think Mr. Yi is up to now?"
One old man couldn’t help but ask.
"Who knows? He said he’s going to die, so let him die. What’s the big deal?" another old man replied.
"Exactly. The way he said it made it seem like he could actually die!"
"Probably just bored again. Whatever, we’ll get used to it. Stay calm. Even if he said he was going to crush the sun in the sky, it’s not something we need to worry about."
"Well said. Let’s just carry on with our business."
"Forget it, I’m done watching. I’m going to find Granny Wang to buy some melons."
"I’m not watching either. I’ll go get half a bucket of manure from the dung collector and go home to fertilize my vegetables…"
After leaving the street, Yi Feng continued his quest to find a way to die.
Jumping off a cliff?
He could fly.
Jumping into the sea?
He could swim.
In the end, he tied a large rock to himself and plunged into the ocean.
Blub blub…
With the weight of the rock, Yi Feng was pulled down and sank to the bottom.
One minute passed, and Yi Feng blinked.
Fifteen minutes passed, and Yi Feng blew a bubble.
An hour passed, and Yi Feng yawned, unable to resist falling asleep. He slept for a full day.
After a day, Yi Feng swam back up.
His attempt to drown himself officially ended in failure.
"It seems the usual methods of suicide don’t suit me," muttered to himself. "After all, I’m quite skilled now."
"Better just get straight to the point and find someone to kill me!"
As Yi Feng mumbled this, he spotted Lu Dasheng in the distance, carrying a bucket of manure.
"Alright, you’ll do."
Yi Feng grinned and flew towards Lu Dasheng.
"Greetings, sir."
Lu Dasheng bowed respectfully.
"At ease. I need you to do something for me." Yi Feng pulled out a knife from his robe and tossed it on the ground.
"Here, stab me with this," he said.
"Ah!"
Lu Dasheng was so frightened he dropped the manure bucket and fell to his knees with a loud thud.
"Sir, I don’t know what I’ve done wrong to offend you, but please don’t hold it against me!"
"Besides, I, Lu Dasheng, am completely loyal to you. I would never dare to have any ill intentions toward you!"
"If you don’t trust me, you can kill me at any time, but I would never dare to lay a hand on you!"
Lu Dasheng kowtowed repeatedly, desperately trying to explain himself.
"What are you even talking about?"
Yi Feng’s face darkened as he bent down to explain. "You’ve got it all wrong. It’s like this—you know how powerful I am, right? I’m training a divine technique that requires breaking before building. I can’t bring myself to do it, so I need you to stab me. I won’t blame you."
"Sir, I’ve wronged you. Lu Dasheng would never dare to disrespect you!"
Lu Dasheng didn’t listen to a word Yi Feng said. Instead, he kept kowtowing frantically, convinced that he must have done something to upset his master.
"Hey, you…"
Seeing Lu Dasheng like this, Yi Feng felt utterly speechless.
But then again, he was being too hasty. Handing someone a knife and asking them to kill him out of the blue would scare anyone.
It seemed he’d need to explain things more clearly next time.
Yi Feng nodded, realizing that Lu Dasheng wasn’t the right person for this. He quickly left to find Old Man Wang instead.
Though the old man was elderly, he was still strong enough to wield a knife. More importantly, he was sensible and knew what was what.
Explaining the situation to him and asking him to stab him would probably work out better.
Yi Feng arrived at Old Man Wang’s house.
Old Man Wang had already brewed some tea.
The two sat facing each other.
"What brings you here today, sir?" Old Man Wang couldn’t help but ask.
"Well, recently I’ve been training in a divine technique that requires breaking before building." Drawing from his experience with Lu Dasheng, Yi Feng explained carefully and rationally.
After explaining everything in detail, he placed a dagger on the table.
"So, I need you to do me a favor and kill me."
Yi Feng said this with complete seriousness.
He then clenched his teeth and closed his eyes.
Old Man Wang looked at the knife on the table, then at Yi Feng with his eyes closed.
His expression was extremely complicated.
Sir Yi was a good man.
Powerful, too.
But his brain… wasn’t exactly the sharpest.
What kind of person would make such a request about himself?
Even if Yi Feng sat there motionless, and Old Man Wang struck him with all his might, would he even leave a mark?
After waiting for a while and seeing that Old Man Wang still hadn’t acted, Yi Feng opened his eyes.
"Why haven’t you done it yet?"
Old Man Wang remained silent.
He just looked at Yi Feng quietly.
In his gaze, there was respect… mixed with a hint of looking at a fool!
