Chapter 812: Still Pretty Cute, Huh?

68 views 07.03.2025

"Plenty to go around?"

Su Xiaoyu's lips twitched. She hadn't expected this guy, who looked decent enough, to be so full of hot air. In the current situation, everyone was scrambling to get their hands on even one demon core, and yet he claimed to have plenty to go around? However, she didn't call him out on it. Instead, she decided to play along and see what kind of game he was playing.

"Alright then, I'll take as many as you have," Su Xiaoyu said.

"You sure?" Yi Feng widened his eyes in surprise.

"Of course I'm sure. Do I look like someone who's short on money?" Su Xiaoyu tilted her chin up slightly, exuding an air of arrogance.

Yi Feng glanced at her. The sword in her hand shimmered with a faint glow, the bells hanging from her clothes seemed to be some kind of treasure, and even her hairpin appeared to be a magical artifact. It was clear that she was indeed from a wealthy and powerful background.

"Alright, but you'll have to come with me to get them," Yi Feng said, already calculating in his mind how much money he could make if he sold all the cores. Well, his fingers weren't enough to count that high.

"Lead the way," Su Xiaoyu said.

And so, the two of them set off on their journey. Along the way, Yi Feng played a little trick. He thought that since so many people were after these cores, others might try to steal his monsters. The few monster gathering spots he knew of were already barely enough for him to farm, let alone if others started competing for them. So, over the next few days, Yi Feng led Su Xiaoyu on a long detour before finally heading in the direction of Shadow Island from another route.

"Hey!" Su Xiaoyu called out to Yi Feng. "You should walk behind me and just give me directions from back there!"

"Why?" Yi Feng asked, puzzled.

"This area is remote. If we run into danger, you might not be able to handle it," Su Xiaoyu explained.

"Oh," Yi Feng replied, obediently moving behind her.

Just "oh"? Su Xiaoyu was annoyed. How could he be so indifferent?

"Your careless attitude won't do," Su Xiaoyu couldn't help but lecture him. "You look like a young man with no experience in the world, naive and clueless."

"Let me tell you, when you're out in the world, the most important thing is to always stay vigilant and be prepared for any situation," she continued, her big eyes darting around as she pretended to be an experienced veteran.

"Oh," Yi Feng responded indifferently. He was busy trying to recall how many monsters he had killed and how many cores he had collected.

Su Xiaoyu was extremely frustrated by Yi Feng's lukewarm response. She wished some danger would appear just so she could show this clueless guy how capable she was.

Perhaps her inner plea moved the heavens, because the nearby bushes rustled, as if something dangerous was lurking within.

Su Xiaoyu's eyes lit up. This was her chance to shine.

"Be careful!" she shouted, leaping into the air and slashing down with her glowing sword.

Rip!

A nearby tree toppled over, and a spray of blood shot out.

Su Xiaoyu landed gracefully. Seeing Yi Feng's seemingly panicked expression, she couldn't help but comfort him. "Don't be afraid. With me here, the danger has been dealt with."

"Though I must say, if I hadn't been here today, you would've been in trouble."

"Uh, probably not?" Yi Feng raised an eyebrow, his expression strange.

"You have no idea how dangerous that thing lurking there was..." Su Xiaoyu said, turning to look at the corpse. Her words caught in her throat when she saw a wild boar, split in two, lying on the ground. Her face turned bright red.

"Well, even though it's just a regular wild boar, cultivators can still get hurt if they're not careful," Su Xiaoyu stammered, her face flushed as she tried to save face. "Besides, I was just using this boar to teach you a lesson. You must always take things seriously and never let your guard down."

"Oh, thank you, miss," Yi Feng said, a bit annoyed. He had just been trying to tally up the numbers in his head, and Su Xiaoyu's sword strike had made him lose count.

"Hey, what's with that attitude?" Su Xiaoyu's face was still red as she stood in front of Yi Feng, looking serious. "Don't think I'm making a big deal out of nothing. As someone with a strong sense of justice and plenty of experience, it's my duty to teach a rookie like you some important lessons."

Seeing Su Xiaoyu's stern expression, Yi Feng also put on a serious face and nodded solemnly.

"Understood."

With that, he went back to his mental calculations.

Satisfied, Su Xiaoyu nodded and the two continued on their way at a leisurely pace.

"So, what do you think of my sword?" Su Xiaoyu asked after a while, trying to make conversation.

"It's good," Yi Feng replied. Seeing Su Xiaoyu's displeased expression, he quickly added, "Very good!"

"Hmph!" Su Xiaoyu nodded in satisfaction and continued, "This sword, I obtained it eighteen years ago from a very dangerous secret realm. It took me a lot of effort to get it, and there were countless experts competing for it. Ah, I fought my way through them all. Thinking back to that battle..."

Su Xiaoyu shook her head nostalgically and patted Yi Feng's shoulder. "I'll tell you all about it when I have time."

"How old are you, miss?" Yi Feng suddenly asked.

"Nineteen!" Su Xiaoyu replied, looking at him.

"Impressive!" Yi Feng gave her a thumbs-up.

Su Xiaoyu didn't seem to notice anything odd about his response. Seeing the thumbs-up, she felt pleased and asked, "Aren't you curious about such a powerful sword?"

"Hmm..." Yi Feng nodded.

"Don't you want to see it?"

"Can I?"

"Of course not!" Su Xiaoyu quickly sheathed her sword. "This sword is called the Dragon-Phoenix Sword, and it's bound to its master. If anyone else touches it, it will harm them," she said proudly. "Your little body wouldn't be able to handle its power."

"Of course, even though I can't show it to you, you'll definitely get to witness its true power in the future. If you're lucky, you might even see me unleash its strongest technique."

With that, Su Xiaoyu looked at Yi Feng expectantly.

Yi Feng had a rough idea in his mind. The money from selling the cores would be an astronomical sum.

"So, can we make it a cash-on-delivery transaction?" he asked.

Su Xiaoyu was momentarily stunned but then nodded instinctively.

Seeing this, Yi Feng felt reassured.

"I'm really looking forward to seeing you unleash that technique!!!"

Although she didn't quite understand why Yi Feng suddenly brought up payment, his words made her feel satisfied. Even though this guy seemed to be lying about the demon cores and lacked experience, he still seemed pretty cute in his own way.

Hmph.

Who said a young lady like her couldn't go out and gain experience? She had already made a name for herself and even gained a little admirer.
