Chapter 58
Not even a month had passed since the last incident, and Eliza was back with Anji in virtual space. This time, there was another overload and severe bleeding.
"Hello, Anji. Things aren’t going well between us, are they? Every time we meet, I either have to punish you or scold you for your reckless actions. How could you sit studying for an entire day?"
The boy remained silent.
"So you’re just going to stay quiet? Last time, we actually had a proper talk. Though, I didn’t get the chance to tell you that Galboa is fine. They restored his arm with regenerative medicine, even the sensors in his palm. He sends his regards—said Finks misses you."
Anji stayed silent, his entire demeanor making it clear he knew she was lying.
At that moment, interference crackled through, and the boy vanished from virtual space.
"Moro, what happened? Where’s Anji? He couldn’t have logged out—I didn’t authorize it."
"I don’t know, Miss Donovan. Reports say the boy was forcibly disconnected from us. Right now, he’s in another virtual space with completely restricted access. He’s alone in there."
"That’s insane. He couldn’t have done this himself. Were we hacked?"
"A hack is impossible. His connection was through a medical capsule with personal user authentication. We’ve detected no signs of external interference. It’s possible someone intercepted Anji’s data stream and redirected it to another virtual space."
"But who? And why? This is government-level security—it’s a nightmare to navigate. Tracking a data stream that fast… Could it have been a random breach?"
"Unlikely. The precision is too high for that."
