Chapter 17

Eliza scrolled through the video recordings of Anji’s recent tests. He had solved every problem correctly, paying no mind to the difficulty. The training course was completed ahead of schedule.

For the past two weeks, the boy had been constantly fighting with his peers. He was getting beaten up for no reason, and the supervisor turned a blind eye, claiming it was a malfunction in the sound-dampening system. It all started after her conversation with him in the cafeteria.

Now, she was reviewing footage from her personal 3D camera.

Entering a private virtual space, she began playback. There—Anji grimaced at her words. There—he glared at her in anger. And then, the oddity she had noticed during their meeting: the boy was frightened, but he wasn’t looking at her—he was staring at the cameras. Then his gaze dropped to an empty spot with a tiny black dot.

"Zoom in on this section."

IskIn Moro obediently magnified the wall with the black dot.

"You slimy little rat!"

Eliza could swear as well as any dockworker from the lower levels. She checked the other spots Anji had looked at—hidden cameras were everywhere.

"Moro, create a private virtual space for me and Anji Ganet. Locked access—no one but us. Official reason: the boy requires a treatment course in the form of counseling for social adaptation."

"Understood, Miss Elizabeth."
