Chapter 1489: Awakening
It was unclear how much time had passed.
In Yi Feng's dim vision, a faint glimmer of light seemed to flicker. Instinctively, he wanted to open his eyes, but his eyelids felt as heavy as if weighed down by a thousand pounds, impossible to lift. His entire body was weak, devoid of any sensation.
After struggling several times, he still couldn't even move a finger.
That extreme sense of weakness seemed to emanate from the depths of his soul, leaving his body utterly exhausted. Even the simple act of opening his eyes felt like an insurmountable task.
It wasn't until a faint voice echoed from afar that Yi Feng's consciousness began to grow clearer.
"At the beginning of life, human nature is inherently good..."
The words of enlightenment, recited by a tender voice, flowed like a clear spring, washing over Yi Feng's weary mind and confirming to him that he was still alive.
Unconsciously, a faint warmth began to spread through Yi Feng's body.
As the sun rose high in the sky, the air grew warmer, and Yi Feng finally mustered a bit of strength. His heavy eyelids slowly lifted.
In his blurred vision, the beams above his head were ordinary, made of common wood, yet they were spotless, giving him a sense of comfort.
After staring blankly for a few moments, Yi Feng struggled to turn his head.
His vision gradually cleared, and he finally took in the surrounding furniture and decor. Though unfamiliar, the simple yet elegant arrangement left a strong impression on him. The faint, refreshing scent in the air also brought him an indescribable sense of peace.
At this moment, he finally realized that he was in an unfamiliar room.
The room was tidy and simple, yet not lacking in elegance.
The owner must be someone who values cleanliness.
Just as he struggled to sit up and take a better look, a graceful figure in a white dress slowly entered the room.
It was a woman, her skin as smooth as jade, her face as radiant as peach blossoms, breathtakingly beautiful. Her gentle eyes sparkled with a natural, joyful smile, as pure and warm as the sunlight outside.
"You're finally awake," she said softly, her voice like pearls falling onto a jade plate.
At first glance, Yi Feng was struck by her ethereal beauty.
The woman approached with light steps, standing quietly by the bed, her eyes filled with concern. A faint, pleasant fragrance wafted from her, soothing his senses.
Though her words and demeanor were approachable, her stunning beauty and otherworldly grace created an unbridgeable distance, leaving Yi Feng utterly captivated.
The woman didn't seem to mind his gaze and simply asked gently, "How are you feeling? Your injuries were severe, but thankfully, you've woken up. Can you speak now?"
After a few questions, Yi Feng finally snapped out of his daze.
After struggling to move his throat a few times, he managed to utter his first words in what felt like an eternity. Though it was an instinctive response, it came out awkward and clumsy.
"I... I can speak..."
Hearing this, the woman let out a soft sigh of relief. But seeing Yi Feng's dazed expression, she couldn't help but chuckle.
Noticing how weak Yi Feng was, the woman helped him drink some water and then brought over a bowl of plain porridge, feeding him spoonful by spoonful with gentle care.
After the food and water, Yi Feng's body began to awaken fully.
He finally mustered enough strength to speak in broken sentences, and the two began to converse.
"Thank you... for saving me, miss. May I know your name?"
"My surname is Bai."
"So it's Miss Bai. I... I will repay your kindness in the future, no matter what."
"Who are you? How did you get so badly injured?"
After just a few exchanges, the conversation suddenly hit an awkward pause.
Facing Miss Bai's pure, curious gaze, Yi Feng's mind went blank. He felt a fog in his head and couldn't recall the answers.
"Who am I...?"
"How did I get injured?"
The harmonious conversation was interrupted by Yi Feng's confused murmurs. His expression grew increasingly vacant, as if he had fallen into a trance, repeating the same questions over and over.
Seeing this, Miss Bai sighed inwardly and didn't press further.
She helped Yi Feng lie back down on the bed, soothing him gently.
"You're still badly injured. Don't force yourself to remember if you can't. For now, just rest and recover here."
As she left, her white dress swaying gracefully, Yi Feng stared blankly after her. Despite the countless questions swirling in his mind, he felt an overwhelming sense of peace and warmth.
At that moment, a phrase suddenly popped into his head.
"In this world, only girls hold the true essence."
He wasn't sure where he had heard it, but it felt deeply familiar, and he couldn't help but agree with it now.
Unfortunately, no matter how hard he tried to recall, nothing else came to mind.
After staring at the ceiling for a few moments, Yi Feng's mind went blank once more. Soon, drowsiness overtook him, and he fell back into a deep sleep...
