Chapter 1461: Establishing A Sect
Those cultivators were merely at the lowest level of the Meridian Opening realm, completely unaware of their presence. The two of them moved like shadows, undetected, until they infiltrated the sect. Standing on the eaves of the main hall, even the patrolling disciples had no idea they were there.
Several gray-robed disciples had just entered the hall to report the day's findings.
Within moments.
A series of harsh, furious curses erupted from the hall!
"Useless!"
"All of you are useless!"
"Can't even intimidate a few taverns at the foot of the mountain! You're tarnishing the reputation of our Dangjian Sect! If everyone were as incompetent as you, wouldn't the entire sect starve?"
The curses were devoid of any grace, truly living up to the rumors—comparable to the crude language of bandits.
The next moment.
The black-clad young man could no longer bear to listen. He leaped down from the hall and stepped inside, walking slowly toward the entrance.
The sudden appearance of this figure shocked everyone in the hall!
"Who are you!?"
The sect master, seated on the main throne, his face full of fat, tensed up!
"Bastard!"
"Who dares to barge into the main hall of the Dangjian Sect!"
The black-clad young man ignored him, lazily scanning the hall. The so-called main hall was in dire need of an upgrade, with almost nothing worth his attention.
As for the so-called sect master, he was only at the Heavenly Light realm—a complete joke, unworthy of any respect, yet here he was, acting all high and mighty. It was utterly ridiculous!
The black-clad young man shook his head repeatedly, almost laughing in disbelief.
"Damn..."
"I thought the Dangjian Sect was supposed to be impressive, but this is it?"
"Looks like there's not much to gain here. Even scraping together some drinking money seems like a stretch. What a disappointment!"
The obese sect master's face turned red with rage, and he stood up in a fury!
"Bastard!"
But before he could finish.
The black-clad young man simply raised his hand and clenched his fist. The sect master's neck snapped, and he collapsed to the ground. The terrifying display left the surrounding disciples pale with fear.
The hall fell eerily silent!
The black-clad young man, however, remained calm, as if he were used to such scenes. He turned around casually and spoke.
"Brother!"
"This place isn't much to look at!"
"I heard that the Liehuo Kingdom, located on the western route, was home to countless powerful sects, making it the best place for rogue cultivators. That's why I brought you here from so far away. But this? What a letdown!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Yi Feng also stepped into the hall, a faint smile in his eyes.
"Not necessarily."
"In a big forest, you'll find all kinds of birds. The Liehuo Kingdom is vast, and the Yandang Mountains stretch for hundreds of miles. It's inevitable that there would be some riffraff."
The black-clad man nodded, and the two walked side by side.
"That makes sense."
"Logically, my intel shouldn't be wrong. I've been to the borders of the Liehuo Kingdom before, and I've never seen such a trashy sect. This must be an exception."
The two continued forward as if they owned the place.
When they reached the sect master's throne, the black-clad man kicked aside the now-dead former sect master and sat down with Yi Feng. He picked up a wine jar from the table, sniffed it, and made a face of disgust.
After glancing around the hall, he turned to Yi Feng with a frustrated look.
"Looks like there's not much to gain from this. Squeezing this rundown, garbage sect probably won't get us much silver."
"Damn, all this effort for nothing!"
As he spoke, the black-clad young man leaned back on the left side of the throne, looking troubled.
Yi Feng, however, smiled and countered.
"I don't think so."
"Although this sect is a bit run-down, it's not a bad place to settle. Since we have nowhere else to go, why not establish our own sect here?"
"This world is full of power struggles. Unless you're a top-tier powerhouse, it's hard to survive alone. Why don't we build our own force first and plan for the future?"
Hearing this, the black-clad young man's eyes lit up.
"Establish a sect?"
"I've never done that before. Sounds interesting!"
The two of them grew more enthusiastic as they spoke, while the disciples in the hall trembled in fear, not daring to make a sound. It was hard to tell who the real members of the Dangjian Sect were anymore.
The black-clad man's earlier display of power had terrified everyone in the small sect, and his presence alone had already secured their dominance.
In the face of such overwhelming strength, no one dared to speak.
Only an old man standing at the front showed a hint of defiance, as if he had some hidden backing!
Hearing their plans to establish a sect, he slammed his iron cane on the ground in anger and shouted.
"Bastards!"
"Bastards!"
"The Dangjian Sect has a century-old legacy! How dare you talk about establishing a sect here? Such arrogance! Are you really planning to seize our foundation by force?!"
As soon as he finished.
Yi Feng and the black-clad young man both turned to look at him, their expressions puzzled. They spoke in unison.
"What else?"
The old man was left speechless, his face turning red with rage. He trembled uncontrollably, unable to form a coherent sentence.
"You! You!"
Holy cow!
The disciples in the hall were stunned!
These two had just killed the sect master and were now openly mocking the elder. Their boldness was unmatched!
No one in the surrounding hundred miles had ever heard of such ruthless figures!
At this moment.
The hall was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. No one dared to provoke them.
Only the old man, his chest heaving with anger, pointed a trembling finger and shouted.
"You think just because you're strong, you can act so arrogantly? Don't think the Dangjian Sect..."
Before he could finish, the black-clad young man reached out and clenched his fist again.
"Snap!"
With a crisp sound, the old man also fell to the ground, dead.
The young man glanced at the corpse and rolled his eyes.
"Annoying!"
"Your sect is in such a sorry state, barely better than bandits, and you still have the nerve to talk about legacy? What legacy? Your ancestors must be rolling in their graves!"
His words left the hall even more silent, with many of the older disciples bowing their heads in shame.
The young man looked around imperiously and asked in a deep voice.
"Anyone else who disagrees? Step forward and let me see!"
After he spoke.
Everyone in the hall, young and old, exchanged glances and then bowed in unison.
"We pay our respects to the Sect Master!"
Under such overwhelming power and authority, the entire Dangjian Sect submitted, with no one daring to voice any dissent. They all knelt toward the throne.
But this sudden display of loyalty startled the black-clad young man, who quickly moved to sit beside the throne.
Before Yi Feng could ask, the young man casually picked up a new jar of wine and poured himself a cup.
"I'm not cut out to be a sect master."
"Dealing with everyone's daily needs would leave me no time to enjoy myself. I think you should take the role of sect master, brother!"
Yi Feng smiled and shook his head.
His brother was too free-spirited to be tied down by the responsibilities of a sect master. It wasn't his style.
But since they were establishing a sect together, they should share the status and benefits. At the very least, his brother should have an honorary title. Otherwise, it wouldn't be fair to their friendship.
With that in mind, Yi Feng nodded and asked with a smile.
"Fine, you don't have to be the sect master."
"In that case, how about you be the deputy sect master? We'll run this new sect together."
But as soon as he finished, the young man waved his hands dismissively.
"No! No!"
"Being a deputy sect master would still tie me down with responsibilities. How would I have time to enjoy myself? Brother, I appreciate the thought, but can we discuss this? Is there a position where I can enjoy the perks without doing any work, and with a cool title to boot?"
This question stumped Yi Feng.
A position with no responsibilities, just perks, and a cool title?
In any sect, those in high positions had their share of work. Even in advanced sects, there were no cushy jobs.
Unless it was something like an Elder...
But that would make him Yi Feng's senior.
Establishing a sect and suddenly being promoted to a higher generation? That wouldn't do.
After some thought.
Yi Feng's eyes lit up, and he turned to his friend with a smile.
"Your request is a bit tricky."
"But it's not impossible. In most sects, the most laid-back position is that of a Protector. While the title isn't as grand as deputy sect master, it still carries significant authority and status. Unless the sect or the sect master is in trouble, you don't have to deal with anything else."
"How does that sound?"
The young man pondered this, muttering to himself before breaking into a smile.
"Protector?"
"Hmm, that does sound cool, but it lacks a bit of flair. How about Grand Protector?"
"Grand Protector? Now that sounds impressive!"
"Ha! It's settled. From now on, I'm the Grand Protector of this sect!"
As his laughter echoed.
Everyone in the hall bowed to him in unison, their voices resonating through the hall.
"We pay our respects to the Grand Protector!"
From that day on, the Dangjian Sect underwent a transformation. To mark the establishment of the new sect, it was renamed the New Sword Sect. Yi Feng became the first sect master, issuing new sect laws that applied to everyone from the elders down to the dozens of disciples—no exceptions.
Only the Grand Protector was exempt from all sect rules and regulations.
In just a few days, the New Sword Sect shed its former bandit-like demeanor and began to resemble a proper cultivation sect. They also abolished the unfair monthly silver system, earning the respect and admiration of the people in the surrounding area.
Rumors of the new sect master's profound cultivation and the Grand Protector's terrifying strength naturally attracted many to join the sect.
In less than half a month.
The New Sword Sect lived up to its name, shining with newfound glory. With over a hundred disciples, it far surpassed its former state of decline.
