Chapter 1362: The Opportunity Of The Era

2 views 13.03.2025

The many bigwigs seated at the long table stared coldly, their eyes revealing a hint of displeasure. The atmosphere suddenly became oppressive, with subtle expressions that ordinary people would hardly notice.

Unfortunately, none of this escaped Wu Tao's keen eyes.

Faced with the skepticism around him, he didn't seem too bothered.

After all.

In the worldview of Blue Star, dealing with so many spirit demons should be a challenge no less daunting than a war between two nations.

Otherwise, they wouldn't have made it a condition for exchange.

Wu Tao didn't bother to explain further. He simply stood up slowly and calmly surveyed the room.

"I'll give you one hour. You can verify the situation in the Northern Restricted Zone yourselves."

"After one hour, I will leave immediately to find Sister Han."

With that, he turned and walked away without another word.

Even though he was wearing slippers and shorts, after the incident with the tsunami, no one dared to stop him. Despite their displeasure, they could only bite their tongues and endure.

Only after Wu Tao left did the conference room erupt in a storm of anger, the tension palpable!

"Slap!"

"What an arrogant attitude!"

"I think he's all talk and no substance. He's not trustworthy!"

"I also find this guy a bit strange. He doesn't seem like a true master!"

Listening to the criticisms and complaints, the elder at the head of the table furrowed his brow in deep thought.

After a few moments, he turned to the people beside him.

"What do you think?"

The people next to him were clearly more composed than the others, and their words were more measured.

"In my opinion, since this man was able to perform the miracle of stopping the tsunami—even if there's still some doubt about it—he wouldn't dare to speak so boldly if he didn't have something to back it up. We should order an investigation first!"

"Agreed."

"Yes, I share the same view. Facts are the only basis for judgment. Only after we verify the situation in the Northern Restricted Zone can we make an accurate assessment!"

"I agree with this approach!"

After a few more comments, the elder, who had been skeptical, nodded solemnly.

"Very well, that makes sense!"

"Immediately issue an order: instruct the demon-hunting division monitoring the Northern Restricted Zone to report the situation on the ground in real-time and initiate a video conference!"

The order was swiftly relayed, and within minutes, the large screen in the conference room lit up with live footage. Regardless of whether they were angry or hopeful, everyone sat quietly and watched intently.

Within seconds of the footage playing, everyone's expressions began to change.

Eyes widened, brows furrowed, and they stared intently at the screen.

In the footage, the once-terrifying hordes of spirit demons were nowhere to be seen. Instead, there was an endless expanse of corpses!

Instantly, the conference room fell into complete silence.

As the footage continued, even those who had been skeptical earlier couldn't help but lean forward, their shock growing with every second. Their bodies straightened unconsciously, and their expressions turned grave.

The elder at the head of the table was so startled that he immediately blurted out a question.

"What on earth happened?!"

From the video came a tense reply, as if the person on the other end was too shaken to follow the usual protocols.

"We don't know either!"

"As soon as we received the order, we sent out drones to investigate. This is what we saw. The entire Restricted Zone is devoid of living spirit demons. It's as if they were all wiped out in an instant!"

Whoosh!

Everyone in the room stood up in shock, their faces filled with disbelief and awe.

"The Restricted Zone has been wiped out?!"

"So what that Mr. Wu said was actually true?!"

"This is absolutely unbelievable!"

"He was right here with us. How could he have done something like this?!"

In an instant, the conference room was in an uproar.

Heated discussions erupted, and even though everyone present was a high-ranking figure, they couldn't contain their astonishment at the shocking truth they had just witnessed.

Just as chaos was about to break out, the elder at the head of the table, though visibly shaken, managed to maintain some composure. He signaled to his secretary to cut the video feed and then slammed his hand on the table, standing up.

"Slap!"

"The video conference ends here. Everything that happened today is classified as top secret. No one is to speak of it outside this room!"

His stern voice echoed through the room, and silence fell once more.

Even so, the excitement on everyone's faces couldn't be quelled. Even the elder's eyes were trembling. Everyone's worldview had been turned upside down.

Without needing to exchange words, they all understood the profound significance of today's events.

If Mr. Wu could so easily resolve the crisis in the Northern Restricted Zone, then the earlier report about the tsunami must also be true. The discovery of such a being in the world might herald the dawn of a new era.

Almost simultaneously, a powerful instinctual thought arose in everyone's minds.

No matter what...

They must do everything in their power to befriend Mr. Wu.

This was both the intuition of those in power and the instinct of all living beings.

The elder quickly composed himself and turned to his secretary.

"Where is Mr. Wu now?!"

The secretary, who had never seen the elder so agitated, replied nervously.

"Mr. Wu is... strolling in the flower garden."

As soon as the words left his mouth, the elder flew into a rage and immediately led the entire group out the door.

"Nonsense!"

"How could you be so negligent with someone like Mr. Wu?! Quickly notify all staff! Everyone is to go and welcome Mr. Wu. Prepare everything immediately and accompany him to find Sister Han!"

The urgent orders spread throughout the headquarters, and a crowd of people rushed toward the flower garden.

In the flower garden.

Wu Tao was wandering around in his slippers, looking at the various strange flowers and plants. He couldn't quite appreciate them. Even though he had been exposed to such things while under his master's tutelage, he still couldn't understand why people were so fond of plants. Some even claimed to have achieved enlightenment through flowers...

That was just plain ridiculous.

As he aimlessly wandered, he suddenly heard a flurry of footsteps in the distance.

Turning his head, he saw the elder leading a group of people, all panting and out of breath. They didn't even care about their status or age as they ran up to him, their faces filled with excitement and nervousness.

"Mr. Wu, Mr. Wu..."

Seeing their demeanor, Wu Tao immediately understood the reason.

He smiled faintly and casually reassured them.

"No need to be so formal."

"We're all human. Eliminating a few spirit demons is nothing to make a fuss about. Just take me to see Sister Han as agreed."

As soon as he spoke, the elder and the others were overjoyed and nodded repeatedly.

"Yes, yes! We're all human. No need to stand on ceremony!"

Without Wu Tao having to say more, everything was already prepared. A helicopter soon landed on the lawn outside the flower garden, and the elder immediately gestured for Wu Tao to board.

"Mr. Wu!"

"Let's go find Sister Han right away!"

Seeing the unnecessary mode of transportation, Wu Tao didn't bother to comment. As long as he could find Sister Han, he didn't mind the bumpy ride. He'd even take an ox cart if he had to.

The helicopter took off smoothly, sending flowers and grass flying in its wake.

As it soared into the sky, it crossed several northern mountain ranges within a few hours and landed in a glacial canyon, where icy winds howled and everything was blanketed in snow.

Wu Tao, however, felt nothing unusual. The seasons of the mortal world no longer affected him.

The elder and his companions, eager to fulfill their promise, hadn't bothered to put on extra layers and were soon shivering, their faces turning blue. Fortunately, the secretary had come prepared and quickly handed out down jackets, which helped them recover slightly.

Looking out at the endless expanse of ice, Wu Tao turned to the elder with a puzzled expression.

"Sister Han is in a place like this?"
