Chapter 1292: Visitors From The Sub Star
Lan Star.
Since the Temple of Fallen Gods was destroyed by a single sword strike, the Land of Fallen Gods has been thrown into chaos. The outer sects are constantly fighting, and even the floating islands at the center of the divine land have begun to engage in open and covert struggles.
Once a sacred land that had flourished for tens of thousands of years, it suddenly became a place where everyone feared for their lives, sinking into a deathly silence.
In the sky.
Two figures stood, their presence causing ripples in the air as they gazed down for a long time. The cloaks adorned with mysterious patterns were slowly pulled back, revealing the handsome faces of two young men. The coldness in their eyes became increasingly apparent, even showing a hint of disappointment.
"Is this the center of Lan Star?" one of them asked.
The other, slightly older and with an extraordinary demeanor, replied with a cold and annoyed tone, "It's just a lowly mortal star. What else could you expect?"
"Enough small talk. Do you know who the Star Lord of this mortal star is, what they look like, or where they are?" the handsome young man asked with a light smile, casually spreading his hands.
"This barren mortal star is our first time setting foot here. How would I know who the Star Lord is? Such a lowly figure isn't even worth my attention," the older man replied coldly, his eyes gleaming with a sinister chill.
"Fine," the younger one said. "Whoever the Star Lord is, I can't be bothered to look for them. As long as we send a message, they'll surely come to pay their respects."
As he spoke, he pulled out a token from his sleeve, similar to a Star Lord's token but far more ornate, with intricate patterns carved into it.
The younger man's smile widened as he nodded in agreement. "Exactly. We are the Envoys of the Sub-Star, holding the Mandate Star Token. How dare a mere Star Lord defy us?"
With that, the older man sent out several messages. The mysterious patterns on the token in his hand began to glow faintly, emitting a sacred aura.
...
Far on the outskirts of the divine land.
Yi Feng sat in a tavern, looking utterly defeated as he drowned his sorrows in alcohol.
His plan to find death had failed once again, and now he was stuck with a mess he couldn't escape. He had no one to turn to, and the bitter wine only made his heart ache more. The more he drank, the more his worries grew.
Looking at the Star Lord token on the table, Yi Feng felt utterly frustrated.
Not only had he failed to find death, but he had also somehow become the Star Lord. The whole situation was absurd. If anyone heard about it, they might think he had stolen the position from someone else...
Thankfully, no one recognized this ridiculous token, or else his reputation would have spread far and wide.
He hadn't even figured out how to die yet, and now he was suddenly burdened with the responsibility of an entire planet.
Where was the justice in that?
The more he thought about it, the more frustrated he became. Yi Feng downed three bowls of wine in quick succession.
Just as he was wallowing in his misery, the Star Lord token suddenly started flashing incessantly, emitting waves of energy. It was even more eye-catching than the neon signs of a hair salon from his past life, drawing the attention of many in the tavern.
Before long, most of the patrons on the second floor were staring at him with curious, gossipy expressions.
Yi Feng felt a headache coming on and lost all desire to drink. He quickly grabbed the token and slipped out of the tavern.
But as soon as he left the small town, the token continued to flash non-stop, vibrating and ringing with a garish light show that was even more ridiculous than a dying Ultraman. It was impossible to ignore.
The most infuriating part was that this stupid token hadn't even been blood-bound, so he couldn't even hide it properly!
Yi Feng grew angrier the more he looked at the token, and his frustration finally boiled over.
"Damn it!" he cursed. "I'm already unlucky enough to be stuck with this mess, and now you're flashing like crazy, trying to piss me off! What kind of stupid token are you, flashing like an idiot!"
Fuming, Yi Feng threw the token to the ground and drew his greatsword, slashing at it with all his might.
*Crack!*
With a crisp sound, the token finally stopped flashing.
Yi Feng felt a bit of relief, having vented some of his frustration. He continued walking slowly toward an uncertain future.
Meanwhile.
High above in the floating islands, the two envoys suddenly frowned.
"What's going on?" one of them asked. "The Star Lord of Lan Star hasn't responded for a long time, and now the token's energy signature has been cut off!"
"How dare this person destroy the token to avoid us?!" the other exclaimed.
"A mere Star Lord, showing such disrespect! This is rebellion!"
In just a few words, the two envoys from the Sub-Star were visibly angry.
The younger envoy was almost beside himself with rage, as if he had been deeply insulted. His eyes were filled with cold killing intent, and his entire body radiated a terrifying chill.
The older envoy's face was equally dark. He gritted his teeth and said, "This scum! A mere Star Lord of a lowly mortal star dares to ignore us and even destroy the Star Lord token! If we don't teach him a lesson, our plans will be affected!"
"If the ants of Lan Star start following his example, what authority will we have left?!"
"Today, we'll make an example of him to warn the others!"
Hearing this, the younger envoy nodded grimly. "Exactly. We must kill one to warn a hundred!"
"Let's use the token to track the residual energy of the Star Lord token. We'll kill this person before he can escape and ruin our plans!"
The two envoys exchanged a determined look and immediately tore through the void.
In just a few moments.
Using their Sub-Star tokens to track the residual energy, they appeared outside the small town.
Seeing the shattered remains of the token on the ground, their eyes burned with fury!
They spread their divine senses and quickly locked onto Yi Feng, who was walking alone a thousand miles away. In an instant, they appeared in front of him.
"You! Are you the Star Lord of Lan Star?!" they demanded arrogantly.
Yi Feng frowned and instinctively replied, "No, I'm not."
"I don't have it."
"You're mistaken."
Even though he didn't know who these people were, Yi Feng had no intention of accepting the mess of being a Star Lord. He immediately denied it with a firm triple denial.
But the two envoys only sneered, their eyes filled with disdain.
"Hmph!" one of them said. "Now you're scared? Too late!"
"We are the Envoys of the Sub-Star. Ignoring our message is a grave offense! And you even destroyed the Star Lord token, showing utter disrespect! This is a capital crime!"
"We tracked the token's energy here. Do you think you can lie your way out of this?!"
The younger envoy, his face twisted with malice, drew a cold, gleaming sword.
"You worthless trash! How dare you defy us and deny it to our faces?! Prepare to die!"
Hearing this, Yi Feng finally understood the situation.
Seeing the murderous intent in their eyes, his expression darkened.
"So you're the ones who sent the message? Just because I didn't reply, you're going to kill me?"
The two envoys stepped forward, their killing intent palpable.
"Just because?!" the older one roared. "You insignificant ant! You're about to die, and you still refuse to repent?!"
With that, the two cloaked figures charged at him, determined to execute Yi Feng on the spot.
Seeing their aggressive approach, Yi Feng's anger flared.
Who did these arrogant fools think they were, trying to kill someone over such a trivial matter? Did they think they could do whatever they wanted?
He was already frustrated with the whole Star Lord mess, and now these unreasonable jerks were pushing him over the edge.
Yi Feng wasn't the type to let anyone bully him. He immediately drew his greatsword and met their charge head-on.
*Crack! Crack!*
Two crisp sounds later.
The two envoys fell to the ground, their faces filled with shock and disbelief, dead before they could even close their eyes.
Yi Feng rolled his eyes in exasperation and sheathed his sword, muttering curses under his breath.
"Damn it..." he said. "You act all high and mighty, looking down on everyone, ready to kill at the drop of a hat. Who gave you the confidence to think you're so great?"
Looking at the two lifeless bodies, Yi Feng shook his head in disappointment.
Lan Star was truly a letdown.
The strongest Star Lord had dumped the responsibility on him and run away, the Sea Lord was nowhere to be found, and now these so-called Sub-Star Envoys had shown up, only to be pathetically weak. If even they were this weak, the others were probably even worse. Where was he supposed to go to fulfill his death-seeking plan now?
Staring at the endless sky, Yi Feng felt lost.
After standing there for a long time, his mood finally settled, but he felt a deep sense of emptiness. He had no idea what the future held. Then he suddenly remembered that he hadn't paid for his wine earlier, so he decided to head back to the small town.
But as soon as he reached the tavern, he ran into Gui Wanhai.
