Chapter 1125: The Reckless Novice

0 views 12.03.2025

The night passed without incident.

At dawn.

Dozens of figures gathered at the mountain gate, all looking tense, whispering to each other, and some even pacing back and forth with grim expressions.

At the front of the chaotic crowd stood two outer sect elders. Though they appeared expressionless, their eyes betrayed a complex mix of emotions, as if they didn’t even have the heart to reprimand the disciples.

Clearly, being assigned to such a mission was not something anyone was happy about. After all, the Red Sky Sect had recently gained a fearsome reputation for its ruthless methods, and the outcome of this mission was uncertain at best. To make matters worse, a new elder was leading the charge, which only added to their discontent.

At that moment, Yi Feng arrived with light, brisk steps.

"Greetings, Elder Yi," the crowd said, offering a perfunctory bow, though their enthusiasm was lacking.

Yi Feng, who had initially been in high spirits, was momentarily taken aback by the lackluster atmosphere. Out of courtesy, he smiled and clasped his hands in greeting.

"Greetings to the two elders. Everyone, there’s no need to stand on ceremony."

The crowd nodded politely but remained silent.

Twice now, the group had shown no energy or enthusiasm. Their demeanor suggested anything but a sense of duty—it was as if the words "unwilling and reluctant" were written all over their faces.

Still, in an effort to boost morale, Yi Feng decided to offer some encouragement.

"Everyone," he began, "this mission is of great importance. For the future of Moon God Pavilion, we must pull ourselves together and give it our all."

At these words, the two elders reluctantly responded, "We will follow Elder Yi's orders."

Though they spoke, their lack of enthusiasm remained palpable.

Yi Feng smiled faintly, not holding it against them, and instead offered some reassurance. "I understand that this mission is perilous, and it’s natural for everyone to feel uneasy. If anyone wishes to withdraw, I won’t hold it against you."

However, his words only prompted them to quickly explain themselves. After all, while they might have reservations, their loyalty to Moon God Pavilion was beyond question.

"Elder Yi, you misunderstand!" one of the elders said. "As disciples of Moon God Pavilion, we are duty-bound to face any danger for the sect. If Elder Yi is willing to go, how could we dare to fall behind?"

As the two elders voiced their stance, the other disciples quickly chimed in. "If Elder Yi is willing to go, how could we dare to fall behind?"

Yi Feng smiled faintly. "That’s good to hear. In that case, let’s set out immediately to gather intelligence on the Red Sky Sect. If we can eliminate that sect, we’ll return in glory!"

His words caused the two elders to shake their heads subtly. A hint of helplessness flashed in their eyes, and they couldn’t help but exchange a few private messages.

"Sigh, this young lad truly doesn’t know the immensity of heaven and earth," one elder thought.

"I thought he was just young and impulsive, taking on such a heavy responsibility without thinking. But now he’s talking about eliminating the Red Sky Sect? Does he not realize how powerful they are?" the other replied.

"The Red Sky Sect isn’t some small fry you can just wipe out. They’ve already destroyed two major sects! They’re a formidable and sinister force."

"Exactly. This guy is clearly a reckless novice. Just because he has some cultivation, he’s acting so arrogantly and overconfident. He’s not fit for such a responsibility."

"Well, if we can just survive this mission, it’ll be a miracle. Let him have his way. After all, he’s a Heaven-rank expert."

"Sigh, it’s worrying that the sect master would trust such a newcomer."

"Enough. Let’s just get moving."

After exchanging a few more private messages, the two elders composed themselves and took the lead.

With the two elders guiding the way, Yi Feng and the other disciples followed closely behind, transforming into streaks of light as they flew out from the mountain gate and sped off into the distance.

By midday, they had traveled far from Moon God Pavilion and arrived in the territory where the Red Sky Sect had been sighted.
