Chapter 1099: First Arrival on Lan Star
Out of nowhere, a sneeze almost caused Yi Feng to drop the antenna in his hand.
Manman, the snail, slowly blew bubbles and came to an emergency stop!
Its two antennae swayed back and forth, and its large head turned toward Yi Feng, as if asking a question or perhaps expressing some exasperation.
Yi Feng, equally clueless, casually reassured it.
"It's fine, it's fine. Let's keep going."
"Maybe I caught a cold after staying on that Water-Cold Star for so long..."
Only then did Manman calm down, its dead-fish eyes rolling as it continued to crawl through the starry void.
The vast sea of stars stretched endlessly.
A man and a snail traveled together, their journey so leisurely it was almost boring.
Sitting on Manman's back, Yi Feng rested his chin on his hand and muttered in boredom.
"That Water-Cold Star... wasn't much to write home about."
"After staying there for so long, I didn't encounter any powerful demons. They were all just experience fodder. And now I might have caught a cold. Aside from gaining some experience and leveling up a bit, it was almost a complete waste of time."
The more he thought about it, the more frustrated he became. His impression of the demons had soured considerably.
He had thought they would be terrifyingly powerful beings, but they turned out to be ridiculously weak!
In the first few days, he felt like the demons he encountered were getting stronger, much like leveling up in an online game. He had expected to eventually run into some formidable foes.
But in the end, not only did he fail to find any powerful demons, he didn't even see a single trace of them.
People often speak of demons with fear, but this is what they're really like?
It's just like the keyboard warriors from his past life—the more they hyped something up, the more disappointing it turned out to be when you actually saw it.
Indeed, all that talk about how terrifying demons are was complete nonsense.
At best, they're just a bunch of experience fodder.
Yi Feng sighed in resignation. After thinking it over, he decided to give up on any expectations of the demons.
Recalling recent events, he reaffirmed his original goal.
"It seems I still need to go to Lan Star. Since Lan Star sent people to Cloud Star to exterminate demons, they must be way more impressive than the demons. That girl was even the Holy Maiden of the Moon God Pavilion, so the Moon God Pavilion must have plenty of experts!"
"Those experts are definitely much stronger than the demons!"
The more he thought about it, the more convinced he became. He slapped his thigh in determination.
"Alright! Lan Star it is!"
Before long.
The man and the snail transformed into a streak of light, heading straight for Lan Star.
After traversing several starry regions, they descended through layers of clouds and mist.
The light landed, and they found themselves in a lush green forest!
Yi Feng put Manman away and looked around curiously.
Surrounded by towering trees, a clear blue sky, a gentle breeze, and the chirping of birds, he stood on a sunny forest path. The pleasant environment was a welcome sight.
Taking in the beautiful scenery, Yi Feng's mood lifted.
Lan Star was indeed different. The air felt fresher, not dry at all, almost like a tropical rainforest. It was a pity there were no bananas on the trees by the roadside, or else he could have had a snack.
He wasn't sure where he was now, or how to get to the Moon God Pavilion.
As he familiarized himself with the surroundings, the sound of hoofbeats echoed in the distance.
"Clip-clop, clip-clop!"
Looking in the direction of the sound, he saw a caravan approaching from afar.
The horses were exceptionally robust, their hooves shimmering with an extraordinary purple aura. Clearly, they were no ordinary steeds. The caravan was orderly, with many guards following closely.
Judging by their demeanor, they were likely cultivators of some status!
If he asked these people, he might be able to find out where the Moon God Pavilion was.
Seeing this, Yi Feng was delighted and quickly approached.
With the manners of a cultured person, he began with a polite greeting.
"Greetings, everyone."
Suddenly appearing out of nowhere, Yi Feng's presence made the caravan members tense.
The leader, a burly man on horseback, gripped the hilt of his sword at his waist and glared down at Yi Feng with cold eyes.
"Who are you?!"
His voice carried obvious wariness. Even if they were worried about bandits, they shouldn't have been this on edge. It seemed like they were being overly cautious.
Yi Feng didn't pay much attention to the cold reception and continued to inquire politely.
"I am Yi Feng."
"I apologize for stopping you so abruptly. I just wanted to ask if you know the way to the Moon God Pavilion?"
Hearing this, the group's expressions softened slightly.
It seemed they were familiar with the Moon God Pavilion, and the mention of its name lessened their guard.
However, no one spoke up.
Instead, from within the caravan, the curtain of a modest carriage was lifted, revealing a young woman who discreetly observed Yi Feng. Noting his dignified demeanor and polite manner, she finally spoke up.
"Young master, the Moon God Pavilion is located in Moonfall City, several thousand miles from here. We happen to be heading in that direction. If you don't mind, you may travel with our caravan."
Her voice was gentle and magnanimous, her tone warm.
Yi Feng felt a sense of relief, thinking to himself that there were still good people in the world.
But before he could express his gratitude, the burly leader dismounted and strode over to the modest carriage, bowing respectfully.
After glancing back at Yi Feng, he whispered cautiously to the woman.
"Miss, this person's origins are unknown. He might be a bandit. We cannot let him travel with us."
The young woman smiled softly.
"It's fine."
"I sense that this young master is well-mannered and scholarly. He doesn't seem like a bandit."
The leader hesitated but eventually bowed in acknowledgment.
"As you wish."
Yi Feng noticed the man whispering in front of the carriage before turning back with a dark expression.
"You may travel with us!"
The reluctance in his tone was palpable, as if Yi Feng had done him some great wrong. Yi Feng didn't have the patience to deal with a rough man like him. If it weren't for the convenience of hitching a ride, he wouldn't have bothered.
The woman in the carriage, however, extended another polite invitation.
"Young Master Yi, please ride alongside us. There is no room in the carriage at the moment. I hope you understand."
Now that's what you call good manners. The difference between the master and the servant was like night and day.
Yi Feng didn't decline and mounted a tall, sturdy horse.
Among the group of burly men, his youthful, scholarly appearance stood out. Perhaps it was because he was slightly more handsome, but along the way, he received many resentful glances from the men.
Well, it couldn't be helped. Talented people always attract envy.
Yi Feng rode leisurely, his mind focused on reaching the Moon God Pavilion.
But they hadn't gone far when suddenly!
A group of fierce-looking men emerged from the edge of the forest, with at least seven or eight scarred faces among them!
"Upon meeting the Seven Eagles of Cang Mountain, you must leave your valuables!"
A fierce shout rang out, accompanied by the release of cultivation pressure!
The aura swept over them like a gust of wind, causing the horses to neigh in panic and the caravan to fall into disarray!
