Chapter 1065: What A Just
Old Daoist Song Xugu stood frozen in place.
Zhongli Meng looked utterly astonished.
The rest of the disciples stared with wide eyes!
Everyone was so shocked that they couldn’t move or make a sound.
Only Yi Feng broke the awkward silence, his words echoing lightly around them.
“There was a bit of an accident on the way, so I only managed to collect these hundred or so demon corpses.”
“Don’t be fooled by the numbers. These demons are all small and weak. Ten of them combined probably wouldn’t match one of yours. It’s not that I was slacking off, but I really couldn’t find anything more after searching everywhere.”
“Don’t laugh, okay? It’s not my fault.”
Yi Feng was genuinely frustrated.
He had been on a perfectly good demon-hunting path, but then some shameless bald old man showed up and ruined everything, leaving him with such an embarrassing haul.
His words were soft, but they struck everyone’s ears like thunder!
Their eyes twitched at his words.
As they exchanged bewildered glances, Yi Feng’s outrageous statements echoed in their minds.
“Just a hundred or so…”
Heh, what a brilliant use of the word “just.”
Is this even something a human would say?
The casual tone of his words left everyone feeling a lump in their chests.
Zhongli Meng and the disciples were so stunned that they couldn’t even muster a response for a long time.
Especially since, despite their small size, they knew full well that the Long-Eared Demons relied on speed and were actually more powerful overall than the demons they had been hunting.
They had initially thought Yi Feng was just an average sage, even treating him like a rookie who had just ventured into the starry skies. Only now did they realize they had severely underestimated him.
The strength he had displayed was nothing short of a pleasant surprise for them.
But thinking back, it made sense. Although Yunxing was a barren and isolated place, how could Yi Feng, who had traveled the starry skies alone, be just an average cultivator?
It was their bias against Yunxing that had led them to misjudge him.
For a moment, they were both excited and a little embarrassed.
“Young Master Yi, you’ve been a tremendous help. I’m truly grateful to have your assistance.”
This excited and gentle remark snapped everyone out of their daze.
The disciples quickly shook off their awkward expressions and began praising him generously!
“A haul of over a hundred demons is truly terrifying!”
“Young Master Yi, you’re truly a hidden expert!”
“I was blind before, please don’t hold it against me!”
“Thank you, Young Master Yi, for your help. We are deeply grateful!”
A chorus of praise erupted, and the atmosphere instantly became electric!
At such a critical moment, Yi Feng’s display of extraordinary strength brought immense hope to everyone. They were all thrilled, and words of gratitude came one after another.
Even the comforting words they had offered earlier now felt a bit awkward in hindsight.
Old Daoist Song Xugu also steadied himself, his eyes filled with nothing but joy and relief.
The entire group was filled with gratitude and cheers.
Only then did Yi Feng realize what was happening. Feeling a bit undeserving, he smiled and returned their gestures.
“I thought these small demons were useless…”
“If you can make use of them, that’s great. Since they can be of some help, you can have them all.”
His generous words sparked another wave of excitement and joy.
Zhongli Meng thanked him again with a bow and promised a generous reward as she collected the demon corpses.
Amidst the excitement and joy, night fell without anyone noticing.
After a full day of hunting demons, everyone was physically and mentally exhausted. Zhongli Meng calmly decided to set up camp, and soon tents were erected, with a campfire lit in the icy world.
The small flames reflected in their eyes, as if the hope for the inheritance competition had grown a little brighter.
The night passed without incident.
After some rest, the team was rejuvenated.
Although they had made an impressive initial haul, everyone was still a bit worn out. Fortunately, Zhongli Meng’s wise decision to rest earned her unanimous praise.
The refreshed team followed her arrangements, their eyes filled with hope.
As they prepared to leave, Zhongli Meng smiled at Yi Feng.
“Young Master Yi, given your strength, I naturally wouldn’t dare to assign you any tasks. But I still need to remind you not to venture too deep. It’s quite dangerous if you go too far.”
After yesterday’s haul, Zhongli Meng was more confident in Yi Feng’s strength and was sure he wouldn’t encounter too much danger. But out of caution, she still offered a word of advice.
Yi Feng nodded obediently.
“Mhm, got it.”
After the girl left, a glint of wisdom flashed in his eyes.
“Too deep is dangerous, huh?”
“Hmm, that’s important information.”
Since he was already here, he might as well go deeper.
If there was no danger, he wouldn’t have come in the first place.
Keeping his original goal in mind, Yi Feng immediately set off. He retraced his steps to the deep valley from the previous day, moving swiftly. Soon, he passed the river bend and ventured into even deeper territory.
Countless snow-capped peaks and glaciers were left behind as he moved forward, the snow peaks on either side growing larger and larger.
After traveling for half an hour, Yi Feng finally smiled with satisfaction.
Before him was a deep, endless gorge.
On either side stood thousand-foot glaciers, as if the gorge had been split open by a single sword strike. It was narrow, deep, and teeming with dark figures darting about. Many shadows could be seen climbing the smooth ice walls.
At a glance, it looked like a demon hive.
Yi Feng’s eyes lit up with excitement, and he slapped his thigh in delight!
“Damn! Finally, I’ve found a good spot. My big chopper is itching for action!”
With that, he pulled out his forty-meter-long chopper and eagerly stepped forward!
Just then, the clouds above slowly parted, and a figure descended gracefully.
An unusual aura enveloped the area, and a fierce wind whipped up the snow and ice!
The commotion made Yi Feng look up.
When he saw the figure with its hands behind its back, his eyes gradually widened. He felt a sense of familiarity but couldn’t quite place who it was.
Until the figure landed mid-air, and the light reflected off its bald head.
Instantly, Yi Feng’s eyes widened in recognition!
“Damn! No wonder it looked familiar. It’s that bald old bandit!”
