Chapter 1032: The Awareness Of The Weak
Yi Feng tiptoed onto the flying boat with a low profile.
Seeing that the three were still meditating, almost as if they were about to attain enlightenment, he was quite pleased with their calm and composed demeanor.
As long as there was a chance to slack off, he didn’t care whether they were meditating or doing something else.
With the lingering aroma of tea still on his lips, Yi Feng decided to go along with the atmosphere. He casually sat down on the flying boat, mimicking the posture of the experts as if he were a worker clocking in for the day.
The flying boat sped forward once again, and the surroundings had already turned pitch black.
Two days passed in a flash.
The flying boat never stopped for a moment, racing through the dark domain for who knows how far.
This eerie, pitch-black world seemed endless. As they ventured deeper, the black fog in the air grew denser, making it almost impossible to see even a hundred meters ahead.
Even a sage would struggle to see the path forward in such conditions.
The silent dark domain was like an endless night, with only the chilling cold wind brushing past their ears. There were no ordinary creatures to be seen, nor a hint of greenery.
The world was desolate, and the thick fog was as dark as ink.
The only things visible were the faint, massive shadows darting through the black fog around them. They moved like giant rocs soaring through the sky or ghostly apparitions flickering past, their forms indistinct and shrouded in an unknown sense of dread.
Finally, the flying boat came to a halt in mid-air.
The three extraterrestrial visitors also began to move their fingers in intricate gestures, their bodies enveloped in a faint glow that seemed to form a thin halo, shielding them from the dense black fog.
The leading woman, with a rare seriousness in her expression, opened her clear eyes and spoke.
"The black fog here is too dense. Let's rest for a moment."
"The pressure of this realm is extraordinary. The flying boat consumes too much energy to move forward. We must rest and recover before continuing. Our own energy reserves are also running low. Let's enter the Void Realm to conserve our strength."
As soon as she finished speaking, the pale-faced young man on the left showed a look of concern.
"The Void Realm?"
"Master, if we temporarily enter that state, we can indeed conserve our strength, but we'll be as good as dead, completely defenseless..."
The leading woman didn’t respond, as if his words weren’t worth addressing.
Seeing this, the middle-aged man on the right spoke up solemnly.
"That's true."
"If it weren’t absolutely necessary, we wouldn’t resort to entering the Void Realm to conserve energy. But we’re in this dark domain, and we’re constantly expending energy to resist the effects of the black fog. Over time, the consumption is significant."
"This black fog is truly strange. Even I can’t replenish my energy using treasures. It’s as if the laws of this realm are suppressing us. Our only option is to conserve as much energy as possible."
"We don’t know what we’ll encounter next, so we mustn’t be careless. The master’s words are wise. Even if it’s just a brief moment of rest, entering the Void Realm to conserve energy is absolutely necessary."
Hearing such serious words, the young man could only nod slightly, beads of sweat already forming on his temples.
The black fog was indeed bizarre, and being cautious was the right approach.
But the thought of entering the Void Realm in this unknown place still made him uneasy.
"The master is right."
"But if we enter the Void Realm and some demonic creature appears, we’ll be completely defenseless. If the flying boat is damaged, we’ll never be able to return to Lan Star."
This finally seemed to carry some weight, and the leading woman glanced at him out of the corner of her eye.
"The three of us will take turns resting. One of us must remain on guard and cannot enter the Void Realm to conserve energy."
The two men exchanged a quiet glance, their eyes filled with determination.
It seemed they were both ready to take on the responsibility of guarding, and the atmosphere grew solemn, as if a great enemy were approaching.
Yi Feng had been watching and listening to all of this the entire time.
But he felt completely lost, unable to integrate into the serious atmosphere.
The flying boat had stopped again, for the third time now. Was the dark domain really that exaggerated?
They were constantly losing energy and couldn’t replenish it? Was the impact really that severe?
Yi Feng was full of doubts. He quietly tried to sense his own condition... but he felt nothing unusual!
He then tried to sense the surroundings, but he didn’t feel any pressure from the black fog either.
At most, the visibility was a bit low.
If anything, it wasn’t even as bad as the smog from his previous life.
And yet, they were talking about significant energy loss...
He was still full of energy, not even a bit sleepy. All he had been doing was meditating and sleeping, and he hadn’t even digested his meals properly. His appetite seemed to have shrunk.
Where was this energy loss coming from?
Looking at the serious expressions of the three, Yi Feng felt utterly confused.
Maybe they were telling the truth. After all, these people had backgrounds and knowledge, so they probably weren’t exaggerating. If there really was something wrong, it would be great if he could die in this dark domain.
As for conserving energy, he had no idea how to do it, and he didn’t see the need for it either.
To be honest, Yi Feng wished he could exhaust himself to death on the spot.
After pondering for a moment, he noticed that the two men had been staring at each other for a long time without saying a word. So, he simply turned to them and asked:
"How about I keep watch?"
This question made all three of them turn to look at him.
Even the usually aloof woman showed a hint of surprise in her clear eyes.
She had originally planned to have Yi Feng take on this task.
After all, Yi Feng was only a half-saint, with the shallowest cultivation. Continuing forward wouldn’t be of much use to him, so it was better for him to take on the responsibility of guarding while the three of them conserved their energy.
This was the most reasonable distribution and the correct choice.
Any one of the three of them was thousands of times stronger than Yi Feng. To ensure their safe journey and conserve their stronger energy reserves, this was undoubtedly the right move.
However, she hadn’t expected Yi Feng to have such awareness and actually volunteer for the task.
Understanding the reasoning behind it was one thing, but having the willingness to sacrifice for the greater good was another matter entirely. Such magnanimity and sense of the bigger picture were rare, even among extraordinary individuals.
Even though Yi Feng’s cultivation was mediocre, his attitude and understanding had already surpassed that of most people, making him worthy of a second glance.
The woman’s clear eyes softened, and her tone became slightly gentler.
"That would be best."
"Later, you’ll be guarding us. If any danger arises, or if powerful demonic creatures appear, be sure to send me a message immediately."
Yi Feng nodded, then got up and started stretching on the flying boat, looking quite eager.
He had been either eating or sleeping these past few days, and he was starting to feel numb.
As for sending a message...
Well, that would depend on what kind of situation they encountered.
Seeing his serious demeanor, the woman felt slightly reassured.
The other two didn’t pay much attention either. They found Yi Feng’s offer to be a natural choice, simply the awareness of the weak. It was the least he could do.
If anything serious happened, they and the master would still have to step in to resolve it.
In this terrifying black fog, Yi Feng’s value was limited to this.
Even if he was lucky enough to earn a brief moment of the master’s attention, it came at the cost of potentially losing his life at any moment. Even so, being noticed by the master was already the greatest honor of his life, something he would never experience again.
Such a minor character wasn’t worth much attention.
As the woman began to move her fingers in complex gestures, the other two also closed their eyes and entered the Void Realm, their consciousness completely withdrawn.
The auras of the three were almost entirely concealed, their bodies enveloped in an extremely faint halo of light that was nearly invisible in the dense black fog.
On the entire flying boat, only Yi Feng was wandering around alone, devoid of any spiritual energy, like an ordinary mortal.
