Chapter 1016: Isnt This Just Bringing Along A Burd
Two days had passed in the blink of an eye.
Yi Feng had originally planned to share the dragon whiskers with Old Man Fu. After all, they lived in the same courtyard, and it was only right to share good fortune, even if it was just a little. The taste was quite good, after all.
But who would have thought? The old man seemed to be under some kind of spell.
For two days, he neither ate nor drank, completely obsessed with planting some kind of ghostly peony!
Left with no choice, Yi Feng had to enjoy the dragon whiskers all by himself.
In the evening, he prepared a small cold dish with the dragon whiskers, paired with a light stir-fry of the same. One ingredient, two dishes—crispy and satisfying!
He even sipped a couple of small cups of wine, and life felt absolutely delightful.
All that was missing were two more people to play a few rounds of *Fight the Landlord*!
What a pity.
Good times are always fleeting. After just two meals, the dragon whiskers were gone...
Early in the morning.
As usual, Yi Feng woke up early, full of positive energy.
He sat comfortably in the courtyard, sipping tea, watching the old man in the corner huffing and puffing as he shoveled soil and tilled the land, completely absorbed in planting flowers. It was like watching the morning sports news—it filled him with a sense of vigor.
But after watching for a while, it was just the same repetitive motions, far less exciting than the flamboyant art of stir-frying.
Yi Feng quickly lost interest.
He leisurely headed out, as usual, to chat with the old men at the village entrance.
Over the past few days, he had managed to infiltrate the village's inner circle. Just by listening to the old men and women chatter for a bit, he could learn all the secrets of every household.
Not long after leaving the house.
Just as Yi Feng was about to reach the village's most prestigious gossip spot under the big willow tree.
Wei Donghai approached, looking both excited and nervous. The small axe at his waist gleamed, and his wine gourd hung silently, seemingly filled to the brim.
"Yi, Yi brother, good morning!"
Seeing the old man so excited and fully equipped.
Yi Feng finally remembered.
Ah, today was the day they had agreed to go on an adventure. It was all because he had been enjoying his drinks too much these past two days—he had almost forgotten about the promise.
Drinking really does mess things up!
Snapping back to reality, Yi Feng smiled and responded.
"Brother Wei, you must have been waiting for a while. Let's head out now!"
Even though the trip to the Ancient Corridor didn't seem particularly exciting, Yi Feng was still full of enthusiasm. After all, he had eaten the man's food, and Old Man Wei had even shared half of the dragon whiskers with him. He couldn't forget that kindness.
Besides, he had already agreed to go, so he might as well treat it as a spring outing for the elderly!
Wei Donghai grew even more excited, though he tried to contain himself as he bowed slightly in thanks.
"Brother Yi, you're too kind. I just arrived myself."
Then, with a hint of nervousness, he added with an apologetic smile.
"I have an older brother who also wants to come along. Brother Yi, what do you think...?"
Yi Feng nodded without much thought.
"If he wants to come, then let's all go together. It's a good opportunity. Let's wait for him, and then we'll set off together."
Seeing the streaks of white at Wei Donghai's temples, Yi Feng couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions and envy.
Even saints have their day of decline.
But this old man still had an older brother. After all these years, they could still wander the world together, their brotherly bond as strong as ever. It was truly something to envy.
Going on a little trip together would surely make for a wonderful memory.
Too bad there were no cameras around. A group photo would have been nice.
Thinking of this.
He couldn't help but miss his disciples and the friends he had known in the past. Even that annoying and shameless Lou Benwei seemed to grow more and more nostalgic in his memory.
For a moment, Yi Feng stood still, gazing into the distance with a deep, contemplative look.
Seeing that profound gaze, as if pondering some profound truth.
Wei Donghai grew even more delighted, thinking to himself that this senior was truly unfathomable!
Indeed.
With this senior's status and cultivation, he wouldn't mind bringing along one more person. This trip to the Ancient Corridor shouldn't pose any danger.
Even if they had to venture deep to retrieve something, it would be as easy as flipping his hand.
Wei Donghai grew more and more excited, his eyes shining with anticipation.
Suddenly.
A muffled sound came from behind!
"Ahem!"
The deliberate cough was like thunder, startling Wei Donghai!
He turned around abruptly, his eyes filled with shock.
Seeing that it was indeed his senior brother, Zui Wuyan, Wei Donghai's face grew tense.
It wasn't that he feared his senior brother—he was worried that his senior brother's rudeness might offend Senior Yi Feng.
If Yi Feng were to become displeased over such a small matter.
That would be a huge loss!
Wei Donghai kept winking and signaling frantically.
But Zui Wuyan clearly didn't catch on. Noticing Yi Feng standing nearby, his expression darkened, and he immediately sent a stern voice transmission.
"What are you playing at?"
"We're heading deep into the Ancient Corridor. Why are you bringing this kid along?"
"Even if you're thinking of taking him as a disciple, you need to pick the right time. This trip is extremely dangerous. Bringing him along isn't just a test for him—it could put us all in danger!"
"Isn't this just bringing along a burden?"
The voice transmission was filled with authority, scolding Wei Donghai mercilessly!
His senior brother was as stern as ever, with a sharp tongue but a soft heart.
Wei Donghai wanted to explain, but he didn't dare reveal Yi Feng's true cultivation level. After all, aside from him, even Fu Nantian didn't know about it. He could only continue to send calming voice transmissions, winking and signaling desperately, almost on the verge of tears.
Watching the two old men's antics, Yi Feng felt a deep sense of understanding.
This was clearly a pair of brothers who didn't see each other often—one too proud to come, the other stubbornly insisting on inviting him.
Perhaps this was just how old brothers interacted.
Cultivation was a lonely and endless path. By this stage, most people had lost almost all their friends and family. The fact that they could still go on outings together...
Ah, it was truly something to envy.
Yi Feng nodded with a sense of understanding and spoke up to mediate.
"Since he's here, let's all go together."
Hearing this, Wei Donghai felt as if he had been granted amnesty. He quickly nodded, opened a portal in the void, and first gestured for Yi Feng to enter before dragging Zui Wuyan in with him.
In an instant, the three of them appeared in the starry sky.
