Chapter 1004: Who Is The Prey
Bones littered the ground, and the air was filled with the stench of decay. The landscape was devoid of life, with nothing but endless darkness, withered trees, and scorched earth stretching as far as the eye could see. The howling wind carried a chilling emptiness, and the only movement in the sky was the eerie shadows of ghosts, creating an atmosphere of boundless despair and gloom, as if one had stepped into the depths of hell.
Standing in the depths of the Black Domain's valley, the Great Monk Chen Kunpeng was enveloped in black mist. Yet, he walked forward as if nothing were amiss. The black mist, unable to touch him, dispersed like smoke and dust around him. He appeared no different from an ordinary monk, strolling calmly through the endless black haze.
Such a sight would have been utterly ordinary in the human immortal realm or the mortal world, hardly worth a second glance. But here, in the boundless Black Domain, it was profoundly bizarre!
A radiant, well-dressed monk, walking alone into this place, moving as if on a smooth path, with a bright smile on his face—it was impossible not to draw attention.
He had barely taken a few steps when several pairs of eyes emerged from the graves, glowing with eerie light in the darkness. Hoarse whispers began to rise, like the murmurs of demons.
"A human dares to walk here?"
"Ke ke ke... Fresh flesh like this is far more delicious than the dying. I've grown tired of absorbing human prodigies. It's time for a change of taste..."
"Heh heh heh, great minds think alike. I was just thinking the same!"
"Oh? If that's the case, let's share. No need to fight over it."
"Well said. I'll... leave a few bones behind!"
"You dare to take the first bite?!"
The whispers quickly turned into arguments, and the graves began to emit terrifying demonic energy!
In an instant, black mist surged out like pillars of smoke. Several powerful figures emerged, blocking the valley. Among them were a towering bull-headed demon, a half-human, half-tree monster covered in vines, and a tiny, fanged spirit demon...
The demons unleashed their terrifying auras, clashing and refusing to back down. The ground around them cracked, and the black mist in the sky churned and split apart!
Dozens of demons continued to escalate their power, showing no signs of stopping!
"Red Bull Demon! Your kind is always scheming, always taking advantage. Today, you won't get to feast alone!"
"Last time, the Bull Demon took the opportunity to leave, and neither he nor the Skeleton Demon have returned. They're probably enjoying a feast in the outer realms right now!"
"That's right! The Bull Demons always take the lion's share. This time, they won't get a single bite!"
"That old bull is the most cunning. We can't let him win!"
"Whoever grabs it first gets it!"
...
The demonic mist churned like a storm. The massive shadow of the bull demon was entangled by dozens of other demons, their auras colliding and intertwining, causing the entire demonic realm to tremble and roar!
Though the Red Bull Demon was powerful, it was no match for the combined assault of the other demons. Its massive form was repeatedly pushed back, leaving deep craters in the ground and sending shockwaves rippling through the air.
Boom!
Countless skeletal minions were swept away by the shockwaves, falling like a tidal wave!
The chaos among the demons was terrifying. Ordinary demons dared not intervene, unable to even approach, leaving the powerful beings to fight among themselves.
As for the monk among the demons, he drew little attention. None of the demons paid him much heed, as if they had already decided he was nothing more than a lamb to the slaughter.
Just as the demons' struggle intensified, and the demonic realm seemed to tremble, a calm voice suddenly rang out, soothing the mind and even dispersing some of the demonic energy.
"Amitabha..."
The long, resonant voice carried a mysterious power, and the demons' ferocity seemed to diminish slightly. They turned their gazes downward, only to realize the voice came from the monk.
The monk, standing calmly with his hands clasped, was dressed in bright robes but appeared incredibly small—no larger than the Red Bull Demon's toe. This immediately provoked laughter from the demons.
"This monk has quite the nerve, daring to speak?"
"Probably begging for mercy!"
"The more he begs, the more fear he'll generate, making his flesh even more delicious!"
"You're digging your own grave, monk. Screaming won't save you now!"
"Hahaha..."
The Red Bull Demon's eyes widened with greed as he stared at the clean, fair-skinned monk.
"This monk's tender flesh will surely taste delicious. How about we stop fighting, and I'll share him with all of you?"
The demons paused, exchanging greedy glances.
"That's a fair deal, but we get to eat first!"
"Agreed. I want his hands!"
"I'll take his ears!"
...
The demons began to discuss how to divide the spoils, behaving like wild beasts.
Watching this savage scene and hearing their murderous talk, Chen Kunpeng clasped his hands together and shook his head with a helpless smile.
"Ah, you all have no manners."
The demons looked down at him, then at each other, as if they had encountered something utterly bizarre. Their laughter grew even more raucous.
The Red Bull Demon laughed so hard that the wind around him howled.
"Hahaha!"
"Manners? Who needs manners with their food? I'll show you manners when I drag you out of there!"
His laughter boomed like thunder, and his saliva sprayed everywhere like rain.
The demons in the sky and on the ground laughed maniacally, their faces twisted with glee, as if the monk were nothing more than a plaything to them.
In such a situation, an ordinary person would have been scared out of their wits.
But Chen Kunpeng remained calm, his smile growing wider.
"Amitabha. It seems my journey here was the right decision. You all truly lack manners. It's necessary to spread the teachings of Buddhism here. Please, everyone, calm down and take a seat to listen."
His gentle voice carried through the air as he raised his right hand and lightly pressed it downward.
Boom!!!
An invisible, terrifying force descended from above!
In an instant, all the demons were slammed to the ground, creating dozens of deep craters. Even the Red Bull Demon was forced to its knees, half-buried in the earth!
The terrifying force pressed down on all the demons without exception, pinning them to the ground.
The bull demon, being the largest, left the most horrifying crater. But no matter how much demonic energy it summoned, it couldn't rise, as if an invisible giant hand was pressing down on its shoulders.
"This!!!"
The Red Bull Demon's eyes widened in shock and fury!
Looking around, the other demons were in a similar state, all immobilized in deep craters, their faces filled with terror. The ground trembled violently, and the demons' gazes toward the monk shifted from disdain to fear and awe.
They had thought this monk was nothing more than a fool seeking death, with at most a negligible level of cultivation.
But they had never imagined...
This human was extraordinary, his cultivation far beyond their expectations!
To suppress all the demons with a single word—who exactly was this monk?!
Doubt and fear filled their hearts, and the demons' eyes gleamed with caution.
Far away, a vast tide of skeletal minions was utterly terrified, not daring to take a single step forward, completely stunned by the terrifying scene.
The valley, which had been filled with laughter moments ago, fell deathly silent.
The entire area was enveloped in stillness!
Under the intense gaze of countless eyes, Chen Kunpeng remained calm, a satisfied smile on his face. He sat down cross-legged, clasped his hands together, and began to speak like a high monk delivering a sermon.
His gentle voice echoed through the valley.
"Humans are born of human mothers. Demons are born of demon mothers. All things in this world have mothers. Why distinguish between you and me? All you do is fight and kill. Such violence is not good, not good at all..."
Is this Buddhism?
The demons' eyes widened in confusion, their bewilderment growing.
The monk's words were completely beyond their understanding, sounding utterly bizarre. Though his tone was gentle, it only served to stoke the demons' anger, making them increasingly irritable. The fear and rage they had momentarily suppressed began to rise again, growing even stronger.
Even though they knew this human's cultivation was profound, many demons were so annoyed that murderous intent flashed in their eyes. They wished they could sew that annoying mouth shut.
However, out of fear for Chen Kunpeng's power, the demons held back.
The monk's calm voice continued to echo, like a demonic chant in their ears.
"If you insist on fighting and killing, that's just too violent. Acting recklessly like this, you'll lose your mothers sooner or later. So, listen to me and turn back to the right path, embracing Buddhism. That's the true way..."
"Do you understand?"
No one knew how long they endured, but the irritating voice continued to drone on like a fly buzzing in the valley, never stopping. Many demons trembled with rage, on the verge of losing control.
Finally, one demon couldn't take it anymore. Its demonic heart, forged over countless years, was in complete disarray, consumed by fury.
With a roar, the decaying tree demon extended its branches and bellowed!
"Argh!!!"
"Who the hell are you? Why have you come to our demonic realm?! If you don't shut up, I'll destroy your soul, even if it costs me everything!"
The tiny, fanged spirit demon also stood up, a fierce expression on its face.
"This is our demonic realm! A human has no right to act so arrogantly here! If you don't shut up, even with your high cultivation, you'll die here!"
The two demons stood up, their terrifying demonic energy on full display.
Their rage spread, and in an instant, several more demons stepped forward, releasing their murderous intent.
The valley was completely enveloped in killing intent, and even the black mist dared not approach!
The other demons remained silent, but their eyes gleamed with murderous intent. The cunning and patience honed over countless years were now fully revealed.
As the killing intent became almost tangible, locking onto the monk, the demons prepared to rise and unleash a bloody battle!
Chen Kunpeng simply glanced at them.
He shook his head with a smile, looking as if he were dealing with naughty children.
"Ah, you're all so mischievous..."
"I'm here to spread the teachings of Buddhism, and you're causing such a ruckus. You have no manners at all. That won't do. Even if you're tree spirits, didn't your mothers teach you anything?"
The tree demon trembled with rage and slammed its hand on the ground.
"Bastard!"
"You're the one with no mother to teach you!!!"
Before the words had even finished echoing, the black clouds above churned and parted. A giant golden palm descended from the sky, crashing down like lightning!
Boom!!!
The hundred-foot golden palm landed in the valley, crushing the shouting demons beneath its radiant light.
The ground trembled violently!
"Argh!!!"
The demons' agonized screams echoed, sending chills down the spines of the others.
When the golden palm disappeared, the tree demon, the spirit demon, and several others had been utterly annihilated, reduced to dust.
Seeing the remains of their comrades, the demons clenched their fists in fear, their killing intent growing stronger. Yet, none dared to step forward, as a terrifying pressure began to spread.
Time and again, they had seen their companions instantly killed without even understanding how. Such power was beyond comprehension!
At this moment, even the once-arrogant Red Bull Demon sat frozen, a deep sense of crisis rising in its heart.
But no matter how fiercely the demons glared at him, Chen Kunpeng continued to speak gently, as if nothing had happened.
"Amitabha."
"Everyone, from now on, you must cultivate your minds and refrain from such violence. I had no choice but to act. Thankfully, there are no flowers or plants here, or I would have committed a great sin."
"The Buddha is merciful..."
The Red Bull Demon's eyelids twitched violently, his killing intent growing stronger.
He finally understood. This monk hadn't wandered into the demonic realm by accident. He had come prepared, taking advantage of the fact that the demonic experts hadn't fully awakened to launch a sneak attack!
They had been fooled by his gentle appearance, thinking he was just a tasty morsel delivered to their doorstep. In their carelessness, they had been suppressed by his immense power.
Despite his terrifying strength, he pretended to be weak, spouting nonsense about the Buddha's mercy, acting like prey.
Humans truly were despicable!
Now, the only option was to use their spiritual senses to awaken the great ones!
